GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE !!!
I was somewhat angry that UBI made Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorow does NOT work on PIII-733 systems! Despite the fact that I have 384 MB of RAM and ATI 9600SE Video Card, I couldn't run it at all! I downloaded the demo version of the game, and it worked remarkably stable at the highest graphics level too!
I would like to say that I installed the demo version, copied Splintercell2.exe from the demo and overwrote the Splintercell2.exe of the full version of the game.
I was able to get the full version of the game to work well. Please note that I already have the graphics level maxed, and i am not getting any performance problems!!
It is disappoiting to prohibit use of the game and to greatly reduce the number of your customers, and most importantly disappoint the fans of UBI.
So, I say with full pride, I love my PIII 733 Computer, and I am also enjoying very much SC. Pandora Tomorow! :-)

i would LOVE to know how you can run it with 1024 x resolotion, with high, and get a constant 30 fps. i have a amd athlon 1800xp, 786 ddr, geforce fx5600 xt 256 mb, and play on lowest possible settings.
Short sighted, and you lack wisdom to say with such pride how you love your p3 733..

I am also confused, sure my video card sucks, but you have a Pentium 3 733 for gods sake! Why am I struggling for any kind of FPS on the lowest settings while someone with a $50 computer can play on the higher end settings with little to no performance hits. Ubi, you got some s'plainin to do...

I would imagine hes full of it. I can see no way in the world he could play this game with no frame rate slowdown at the highest settings on 1024x768 using that ancient machine. MAYBE the framerate peaks at 30 when hes in a completely dark room with no light source, bbut I would even have a hard time believing that.

Hello, All!
Much critcism over simple facts! First of all, to explain my case here is the configuration for my computer:
CPU Pentium III 733 MHz
Gigabyte Motherboard w/ Apollo 133 VIA Chipset
Asus ATI 9600SE 128 MB Video Card - Running at AGP 4X
384 MB RAM PC133
Maxtor 40 GB Hard Drive 7200 RPM
O/S: WINDOWS XP Professional SP1
Quite simply, and I kid you not, I bought UBI game, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and the game at first issued a warning: "CPU Level is Below Minimum Requirement." But the game loaded, *All* graphics level set At Best, Filtering Mode Trilinear. The game had a very decent very stable performance.
If you have a doubt, I ask you to download the demo version of the game, grab its splintercell2.exe and put it ...\Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorow\Offline\System\
It will ask for CD3, you put it in, use even its iso image on a virtual drive (CloneCD or Nero) , and the game loads very smoothly :-)
For the guys who are wondering this is a big joke... I also invite you to read a little bit about Nvdia FX5200 or 5400 versus ATI Radeon 9600SE/XT/9800. For the comparable ones, namely, my Radeon 9600SE versus FX5200 (almost same shelf price! http://www.canadacomputers.com/video.html#gra) which is what I have and its counterpart of FX5200:
Model names ATI Radeon 9600 SE/TD FX5200 V9520TD
Video Memory 128 MB DDR 128MB DDR
Engine Clock 325MHz 250MHz <=== 100 MHz Slower!
RAMDAC 400MHz 350 MHz <=== 50 Mhz Slower!
Memory Clock 400MHz (200MHz DDR) 400MHz(200MHz DDR)
Full Specs. are taken from Asus:
http://usa.asus.com/products/vga/r9600se/overview.htm
http://usa.asus.com/products/vga/v9520td/overview.htm
Thats about it!!! I don't use special tweaks, or do anything out of the ordinary. To be more honest, the only game I had a problem with is Far Cry, which I could get it to work ONLY at "Normal" settings, or it wouls spend forever loading any level. Nevertheless, it worked and I already beat that game!
So, yes, I take pride in my Pentium-III Computer because it has so much potential http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
And for the disbelievers out there, use the exe file from the demo to launch the game from your virtual drive and see for yourself! As for the Multiplayer, I'll work on it and keep you updated!!
The only program that I use that may hardly pass as a tweak is Memory Turbo, which enables me to run Windows XP with 300 MB of free RAM (before I would only have 174 MB of RAM remaining out of 384). If you decide to use it, and I highly recommend it, tune your memory cache which I have it set for the following:
Minimum Cache Size:
60 MB || MAX. CACHE SIZE: 177 MB || Cache block size: 16384 || Asynch IO Buffer: 128K
It reduces your hard drive loading time significantly!

Man!! I know how that feels! Generally, AMD is not good for graphics or multimedia! Its peak processor speed is indeed higher than that of Intel, but overall performance for on-demanding tasks is (watching a divx movie, playing a game, etc..), it is always choppy! I have a friend who bought AMD Athlon XP 1.7 Ghz processor, and he complains that xvid movies run choppy, sound is glitchy sometimes! EXACTLY same thing with AMD Labtops! I know a good friend of mine who bought AMD Labtop 2.1 Ghz and divx movies run faster on his Pentium-III 733 Desktop with VIA, not intel chipset!! Not to mention early problems, data transfer error over IDE channels with its Apollo 133A chipsets!!!!
I have my own small business, and I don't sell even sell AMD. Yes, they are cheap, their speed "figures" are *BIG*, but man, they're problematic sometimes.
i tell you.. i am running S.C. Pandora Tomorow at 1024x768, Graphics Level set to High, and it is not choppy at all...!

im with u dabest, i have the same system specs, and have to run it at low for decent fps. any1 saying it runs smooth on less doesnt have good eyesite or is just stupid.
The reason this game runs crappy is cuaes its a direct xbox port to pc with little optimization coding put into it.
And for u people with computers that arent around the 1.5ghz, prepare to upgrade, cuase if u dont, u wont run anything new.

finally, after posting the screenshots & everything... for all the ones who are running the Pentium III's .. you don't need to upgrade & u don't need to download the demo too!
** REMOVED ***
** this is a link to a file that has not been certified by official parties... as far as we know it may be an illegal version **
** do not post individual files from demo....or whatever **
just rename the file from txt to rar, unrar to [pandora tomorow directory]\Offline\System\
works well with virtual drives too!!! and this is NOT illegal because this is the exe file from the demo of UBI !

Anyways i got a 800mhz p3 at home ill tryed what u said and it worked for sp but also with a Ati 9700 wich i installed there it didnt run over the 20fps even on less hard to render scenes... in the jungel i got CRAPPY 1 FPS!!!!!!!!!! so plz run fraps (http://www.fraps.com) once and then tell me how many Fps u get and maybe post a screen... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

So the only way is to upgrade. I'm gonna buy a FX5900Ultra or FX5950Ultra.

HELLO, EVERYONE !!!
First of all, I put up the screenshots of the game, which I was able to run on a Pentium III 733 System, but still some are saying this isn't the whole "truth" !! Regrettably, there is ONLY one more thing that I would like to add, espcially to the ones who took my advice and bought the game http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif NO, IT IS *NOT* BAD NEWS http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
When you use the exe file from the demo, the demo "ends" at the first part of the level "Komodo, Indosia." Everything works perfect when u use the exe on the full version, till you get to teh completion poitn of the first level (entrance of the underground submarine).. simply it won't end!
So, what you do is simply edit the SplinterCell2User.ini , under Engine Inputs, u should make entry looks something like this:
F10=mission win
you hit , then teh game works perfectly well after that!!
Thats all what I have to say really... minor bug in terms of what you will gain http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Other than that, the full vers. of the game DOES NOT work with the GeForce 4 MX440 64MB RAM. When I had the demo, I was able to run the game on Mediam Graphics level @ 800x600.
if you do the alraedy mentioned trick, you can work teh full version of the game on ur GeForce4 MX440.. which I originally had :-) and you won't need to waste precious $$$ on fictious upgrades http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I still have my GeForce 4 MX440.. I'll test it tomorow and keep you posted http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
peace!

ya, u can run it at that, but where are the fps?
Single player runs better than multi. With no FPS indicator, there is no way to tell if ur getting good fps or not. This isnt the type of game also that requires a ton of fps for it to be playable. But for it running smooth, i highly doubt it.
the reason it probably runs the same though is that this is a direct xbox port, and as we all know, the xbox has a slow processor compared to high end computers.
It wont work with any mx cards, it says that on the box.

I *SERIOUSLY* thinking out of the box for one second http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif because quite simply, they tell you go ahead and buy those P4's and spend a tonne of $$$ on "unnecessary" upgrades, while the EXISTING processors and video cards can do the job.. ie) I was able to run, NOT just S.C., but also Prince fo Persia sands of time & Painkiller ..
Their minimum requirements were P3 1 Ghz Processor.. Well, if that were the case, how come their demo versions work "well" on most machines, and they play with the engine of teh retail version to force you to buy that needless hardware for ANOTHER payment, while the potentional of your existign machine has NOT been unlocked yet!!
Believe me, Don't go for what the box says... it is all MARKETING SCAM
I posted the frame rates and I ran FRAPS quite extensively.. the average frame rate i'm getting 17.900 or 18 fps .. so my computer is good for another 2 years minimum http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/pentium-iii-733/fraps.htm
Finally, it is marketing scams & scientific frauds ... Intel produces the best hardware, gaming & software companies rip u off for false claims!

ouch, thats pretty low. but playable for splintercell, except when u get into high light areas, then i bet it just drags really bad.
fps on single for me is like 40 lowest, 94 highest.

Nop... doesn't drag at all.. no hard drive thrashing... or decreased speed of gameply... i even use ALT-TAB & still no crashes & no decrease of "performance"

the box comment was the the MX cards.
On those screens, ur getting like 20 fps in non heavy graphic areas. Post some where there is a ton of fire, and good lightbeams making alot of shadows, if it drops below 20, its draggin alot.

An average of 17 frames per second is not acceptable for my taste. Id rather spend the money and get smooth gameplay, however, I cant fault you for squeezing every last drop out of your rig. If your happy with how it runs and 17 is fine for you...then have at it and enjoy the game! As for me...Im happy to spend the cash for the extra performance an smoother graphics, but thats just a personal preference. Enjoy the game! Glad you got it to work.

Thank you!! this is the MOST important point of the discussion, which most people are missing...
How to get the game to work on a *SUPPOSEDLY* obsolete & "ancient" machine, which UBI claims to be...
and yes, if you have a P4 with the 40 fps, then by all means: Congratulations & hope you enjoy the game, which is worth playnig.
BUT IF AND ONLY IF you can dispute false ads & *misleading* technical requirements on the box to get the game to work, given that you do not want to pay for needless hardware upgrades & wait for PCI Xpress to come out, then maybe its time to stay firm & challenge teh false claims....
Thanks once again, Sunchey, for pointing this out http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Amazingly, how no one pretty much seemed to get it! & i apologize for repeating myself!

It's nice to put up a challenge http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif AND better to wait till they PCI Xpress becomes the standard.

Those Fraps screenshots aren`t really convincing. All the screenshots with the FPS showing, are at the places in the game that have almost NO graphical detail. It`s either in an air duckt, or against a single textured wall. And EVEN THERE you get only 20 FPS, which is not "smooth".
I would like to see your FPS in some heavy lighted areas, or in the beginning of the Docks level. (in the high grass and stuff.)
I have a 2.1 Ghz CPU, 512 mb ram, and a GF4 Ti4800 card. And i have to run at 800*600 and LOW, to get the performance i would like.
Im sorry, but your comp will NOT last for 2 more years. It doesn`t even last now, in my opinion.
It seems like "smooth" is a very subjective term...
