Ive just completed far cry and i can honestly say it was the best fps shooter ive played for a long long time! (even better than half-life)

yeah after you play farcry...is hard to play another game.

yup http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif One of the few games recently that I have actually felt like playing through again after finishing it. This time though I am taking my time and just having more fun with each area. Seeing how many ways I can take out a camp. Pull a Rambo and run in gunning. See how many you can kill with just the knife. Watching mercs bounce off trees and what not never seems to get old either. Or maybe I am just simple. But who cares! Darn fun.

I've just finished this game, and I must say I was very disappointed with the end, it was a pitiful way to end the tale after a very bright beginning. The opening FMV was very well cut and edited, the closing FMV was the entire opposite.

As far as storylines go, FPS shooters can only go so far in trying out new plots. The story in Far Cry though interesting was a familiar tale of the mad genius. I was really gripped for the first couple of levels, in fact up till the boat level and catacomb levels I was still enjoying myself.

This is a great game, it has very good graphics, nice sound and effects track. I'm not asking for a bestseller story, just one that doesn't appear to be lifted out of another one of HG Wells stories. Simply put this is an FPS, you're not expected to spend too much time thinking as to how to do things, you just have to worry about how to keep your head down while you take off someone elses head.

I liked the fact that the game followed the 5 second prone rule for combat. However I was not impressed by the seemingly impossible Crowe helo. No helo in the world can take 5 rocket launchers and still stay up. I aimed at the rotors and the rear of the chopper and it still stayed up??

The end was a massive disappointment for me as far as endings go. Its disappointing to see developers work super hard to create a great opening FMV and then treat the closing one as an afterthought. This is a very common problem for most production teams, they're all geared up to sell the start but when it comes to the end, they've already packed their bags and can't wait to bolt out of the door.

I just hope that future games from Crytek show greater attention to detail. This could have been one of the best FPS games of the year. It may still win the Developers Choice awards for technical achievements, but I strongly doubt it has the quality to do any better than that.

Yep, the ending was a major let-down - definitely the weakest part of the game.

I've been playing XIII since I finished FC - great fun, but has an extremely irritating auto-save function, where if you decide to quit for the night, you end up having to restart the entire level the next time...

As long as you don't actually quit the game, it gives you sector re-tries. It's good fun tho', and runs unbelievably fast at 1280x960 with 4xAA, due to the cell-shaded rendering.
