in 2004 it would be amazing if Far Cry won game of the year. Going up against Doom 3, Halflife 2, and Stalker...


Admitidly, only Stalker has symilar game play to Far Cry, but half2 and Doom3 have SO MUCH HYPE!!! heh

Far Cry will never win game of the year next year. With Joint Operations and Soldner coming out.

Far Cry will probably be released in competition with those two games in February and will get slaughtered. The only thing Far Cry HAD going for it, is the fact it was going to release before the much more anticipated titles.


Now it will be on sale in the Kmart discount racks by March.

far cry seems to have better graphics than those two games though...

I like Far Cry's screenshots over doom 3's and half life 2's! But of course those games are more popular. Don't get me wrong, I still think FC still has a GoTY chance. Many developers first (non free) games have been GoTY. I think Far Cry 2 will be really popular, and perhaps it just might get GoTY as well.

Never actually had a look at them myself, but if that's so, than Far Cry has a good chance for the GoTY award. CryTek had better be putting some good stuff in to FC!

I dont think that game was ever game of the year....although I luv the game, it didnt catch on.

judging by the info I have of FC and other games coming out... no way
2004 looks to be "the year" of first person shooters.
what I mean is, it just seems these new games will take us to the next level in realism and graphics etc.

FC looks a bit cartoony to me, what will make or break the game is its 'game play'. will it be smooth? will it get choppy when u strafe or lay down?? choppy when u jump?

Yeah who knows there might be an even better game in development for the end of next year. Well Far Cry's gonna be my GoTY anyway!

cartoony? LOL you haven't played Cel Damage yet !!
And it will only be choppy if you have a low-end computer. X-Isle #2 ran at 49.80 FPS average on my PC. It seems choppy when it gets to about 15 FPS. And of course Far Cry will have Graphics options to suit your PC.
