Ok I have recently bought the ghost recon gold edition. I installed the original. played it, it worked fine. Then I installed the second disk, the one with the patch, Desert siege, and Island Thunder. I then played desert seige it works, Played Island thunder. it worked. Everything is fine. Except On ONLY the Island thunder map pictures. they are blank. there is no picture in the black sqaure, on the screen where you pick a map. example Multiplayer host map select...Quick mission select, and campaign, how it has a little picture of the mission you last left off on. They are there for every game/mod except Island thunder?? please help me out.. I have already uninstalled COMPLETELY.. scan disk, defraged, and tryed installing again. To no avail. Thanks...

Iggy,
Short of somebody responding that has actually had this happen to them, it sounds like the Island Thunder folders somehow got misdirected on install. ALL the files have to be in this sample path your drive letter may be different but I will use the C drive for this example....
C:\Program Files\ Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods folder. I realize that DS and IT arent "mods" per se, but thats the hierarchy. You should have MP1,MP2, and Origmiss folders in the Mods folder. If you do not, the game wont find the right folders and you'll get that kind of occurence.
Question? did you d/l any other mods that may have overwritten files...or have you gone into the folders and moved things around? I think by default all the disks "should" install in the right place but ya never know sometimes...When you install/re-install check the path but try not to change the direction unless you see that it's not going to the above sample. It sounds like your patched to the right point so maybe one of these is the problem/solution.
Thats all I can think it might be, but one of the Moderators may be of more help if thats not the case.

Ok I have been comparing the origmiss, and the MP1 (Desert Siege) with MP2 (Island thunder) files, and folders, and as far as I can see they are just fine. the Mp1 folder is 424mb ,,Mp2 is 515mb. the origmiss is 790mb. I believe all the files are definetly there, but maybe those Picture files, whatever type of file they are, just arent in the right folder. I never put any other mods on this machine either. its pure Red storm cd installation.

To Iggy99XT,

Follow the below Uninstall of GR then download the patches from the link below and make sure you have your Anti virus software disabled on install. Follow the INSTALL GOLD EDITION VERSION at the bottom of the page.

Patch v1.3, v1.4 http://www.ghostrecon.com/patch.php?param=pcgr

GR Uninstall

First of go to your add/remove program and uninstall GR/UBI and then follow below and delete the GR/UBI folders

1-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/red storm entertainment

2-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/UBI.com

To start from scratch uninstall all of GR and UBI and at your own risk do this but first back it up.

(1) start/run and type this: regedit and press ok

Up the top click file/export and on the pop up window down the bottom where it says (save as type) click the drop down arrow and click on ALL FILES. Then select your location and save.

repeat step (1)

1- hkey_current_user/software look for any red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft folders

now do this:

2- hkey_local_machine/software look for red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft and UBI soft entertainment folders and delete

now do this:

3- hkey_LocalMachine/ software/ Microsoft/ windows/ current version/ uninstall directory there should be a folder here named "{D89EF3B3-6F17-4665-B7A9-A4235A6DC787}" with some Ghost Recon info in it so delete only the ghost recon related info.

Install Gold Edition Version

Do this in this order and it should work:

Uninstall ghost recon and all folders/files associated with the game. -Restart computer.
Re-install Ghost recon.
Install 1.3 patch. - install 1.4 patch.
Then install Desert siege and Island thunder.

I recently bought the game (Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Gold Edition)
I have installed the original game from the CD 1. I have played it
and it worked fine. I then installed CD 2. Containing the 1.4 patch,
The Desert Siege campaign, and the Island thunder campaign.
Everything in the game works perfect. The only problem is that for
example on a (Quick mission) when I am scrolling up and down through
the maps that are available, I see no pictures for the Island thunder
maps. The same thing happens while I'm going to go and select my saved
campaign. It usually has a little picture in the black-borderd box to
the right of the saved game file. But for Island thunder, the box is
transparent and no picture is displayed.
I have had other problems like this associated with games before. so I went through the first problem fixing procedures. I uninstalled. Scan disk,de-fragged, and then re-installed the game again. It did not work.I have posted my problem in the community forum and nobody seems to be able to figure it out.
The game works fine.

I have also tryed intstalling the second CD onto my other computer in
my household. The CD containing the mods/patch. I already had Ghost Recon on the other PC. It worked fine. And you COULD see the Island thunder Pics. So obviously it must be a Target Path issue.

To Iggy99XT,

Could you post your dxdiag please.

Also what programs have you installed just prior to this happening. Are you using tweak XP? Have you installed and new DVD rom drive? Did you disable your anti virus software on install?

Dxdiag

start/run/ type in dxdiag click ok/ when it has finished loading/system tab/ down the bottom click SAVE ALL INFORMATIOM to desktop/copy and paste that in the forums.

Copy/Paste

You may know how to do this already, so overlook it if you do.

To copy/paste left click the left mouse button and while holding the left mouse button down drag it to the left then up the page until every word is highlighted. Then on any part of the highlighted words right click and a little window pops up and with the left mouse button click COPY.

Now come to the forums and place your thread for your problem and in the white space, right click the mouse button and another small window pops up. With the left mouse button click the word PASTE and your dxdiag is copy/pasted

Rob,

We have not seen this problem before. Are you having trouble playing the maps, or is it that you just can't see the image of the map on the selection screen? In all honesty, you can most likely resolve this problem by reinstalling the game. Uninstall the game and delete the files and folders left over in the game directory. Then reinstall the game to the default location and install the mission packs. You will obviously need to play through the game again to unlock all of the misisons, or you can go to http://www.gamefaqs.com fo rfind some cheat codes to help you unlock everything.

Ok..just please listen to this very closely. I am not a newbie. I have beaten this game before. I KNOW how to ENABLE Desert siege, and ISland thunder. you just go to the mods tab, and activate them. I KNOW THIS. MY PROBLEM IS DIFFERENT. For EXAMPLE. When the ISland THunder mod is ALREADY ACTIVATED. I am sitting here at my comp scrolling up and down through the maps that I have ALREADY AVAILABLE FROM BEATING THE GAME. I stop on Island Thunder map C_06 for example. I'm not sure if that's it's real name. But when I look a little over to the right on my screen. There is a mid-sized black-bordered box, that shows a jpg. of the SELECTED MAP. HERE IN LIES THE PROBLEM. THE LITTLE PICTURE BOX WHERE THE JPG IS SUPPOSE TO BE> IS SIMPLY TRANSPARENT> AND ALL I CAN SEE IS THE ISLAND THUNDER WALLPAPER IN THE BACKGROUND> NONE OF MY ISLAND THUNDER PICTURES SHOW UP IN THIS LITTLE BOX WHEN I SELECT AN ISLAND THUNDER MAP.
I am not trying in any way to be rude, but I don't believe that you even read all of my previous posts. I don't believe that you made it past the first two sentences before you said to yourself "Hmm this is the most FAQ'D question, just activate the map in the mods. etc. etc."
Please read my previous posted questions over again if you have too.
I would just like to be able to play an Island Thunder Map, and KNOW what map that I have selected.
I am very sorry for this whole mess, please excuse any anger this may have caused.

Ok I have some interesting news... Well I went ahead and copied the entire MP2 folder from my PC. I then pasted it over this PC (My grandfathers), and replaced all the files, yes to all etc etc. Well I went to load Ghost Recon, I went into the mods, activated Island Thunder, and tryed to play a campaign. everything was good so far. I exited out of the mission, and Went to see if the map pictures showed up yet. So I went to Quick Mission, scrolled through the list, and still every Island Thunder map, has no Shot in the box that shows what map you are looking at. So therefore the problem does not lie in the mods folder, but somewhere else maybe? I have already COMPLETELY uninstalled before, I have done everything correct, but for some reason I cannot get those blasted pictures to show up for Island Thunder. It's such a wierd problem that just doesn't make sense. This is my grandfathers Pc I am trying to put this on. I have my own Ghost Recon and Pc and it works fine. The only difference between us two, is that he has the gold edition, I bought my ghost recon a while back. So maybe theirs just something wrong with his CD? should I just try and get a replacement? Thats the only other thing I can think of.

1- Let me get this straight you games and CD's are fine and work well?

2- This problem is on your grandfathers computer and he has the gold edition?

3- You followed my guide for uninstalling GR?

4- You followed my guide for installing the Gold Edition?

5- Did you do the below and check if it's there?

start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/red storm entertainment/ghost recon/mods/MP2/briefings

6- Who's dxdiag did you post?

7- If I understand you correctly where the problem is it lies on your grandfathers system so post your grandfathers dxdiag!

8- answer the above questions when you post back and number them as I have done so I can check them off and then I know for sure that all is done and we can take the next step.

If you have done the above please get back to me so I know and return the gold edition to your place of purchase for a replacement as it must have corrupt files on the "IT" disk.

Yes, I have Followed all of the steps. and the Dxdiag was from my grandfathers pc. The uninstallation, the gold installation. all of it has been done but this still doesnt work. I think the files you are asking me to look at are different aren't they? The briefing files are for the campaign right? Because I am talking about the picture you see when you scroll up and down your map lists, in Quick Mission, and Multiplayer Host.

To Iggy99XT,

Go the the MP2 folder open the TEXTURES folder and tell me if there is a "faces folder" followed by the following 8 files. There will be other files but lets see if those are there.
