'using' a program and having it running while you sit in front of the screen clueless and whining is not the same thing./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif j/k
In photoshop u have to make you're ellipse, then place your text in a separate layer above it and adjust to fit yourself. By hand. Manually. I do not know any design programs that will automatically do what u want.
If you like try something more beginner friendly yet powerful in its own right, like typestyler.
But since you have PS, once youve written your text, play with the 'warp type' tool in the toolbar at the top (u have to have the text tool selected and the type layer selected for it to show up. It looks like a T with a curved arrow underneath.
Have fun, learn sumthin and quit yer complainin/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
The built in 'help' feature is worth perusing too.
You will need to get familiar with the character palette to really fine tune your text, point size, leading, baseline shift, etc, is all there once u know where to look.
But there is no built in 'make my text round' feature.
Unless, I suppose, u have an action thatll do it.
But thats another story.

Photoshop isn't really a newbie thing. It take times to accomodate with. In college we are learning it because it an industrial standard to create effects and photo editing PERIOD. In that college if you want to create an illustration you do it with Adobe Illustrator or you do it by your own bare hands and retouch it later with PS.
PS is so over rated. It not a bad thing thought, I learned PS that way and did many things I could'nt imagine, especially for web. But there is much more friendly paint programs out there for ordinary people and cheaper that do pretty much things than PS. Like Paintshop Pro, Corel Paint and Corel Painter. I even heard that a pretty good one come free with Linux Gnome. I suggest to download some demos and take the one that fit to you.
Cheers

Photoshop is overrated?
Its the industry standard for image editing. Whatever you might think. But you are right, its not for newbies.

-very simple c.787, make any shape you like then while the marching ants are visible go to edit/stroke and then change color and point size and then ok. OK?
One more way is using the styles pallete. just find the stroke style and voila.

LOL. Just because you don't understand how to use the most powerful image editing program on the market doesn't mean it "sucks *** dude". Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard among Graphic Artists, Printers, and Web Designers. It's not a beginner's application; it takes a little time for a person to become proficient with Photoshop.

^^^^^ GET THIS
Watch the 6 sample videos and you will learn a LOT. And there are like 20 hours of videos on the real CDs.
As for the text... it's pretty simple actually. Put your text over the ellipse, link the layers and then merge them. Of course the ellipse has to be a layer itself.. oh no...

WOW (and I am not being sarcastic)
This is the reason that people come to the forum boards. (For those that didn't know. JARED) The help and information that can be found, and the good people that share that knowledge.
This is why I come here.
