Arnold & Cameron for Alien 5?!
Straight from the horse's mouth.
July 07, 2003 - According to Dark Horizons, Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron advised the BBC that he may indeed helm a potential Alien 5 (a separate project from the upcoming Alien vs. Predator film). "We're looking at doing another one," reveals Cameron, who also helmed the 1986 smash Aliens. "Something similiar to what we did with Aliens. A bunch of great characters, and of course Sigourney [Weaver]. I've even discussed the possibility of putting him [Arnold Schwarzenegger] into the Alien movie."
Cameron and Schwarzenegger previously teamed for the first two Terminator films, as well as True Lies. The closest Arnold has come to fighting an alien was in 1987's Predator.
By the way, Cameron "couldn't stand Alien 3 - how they could just go in there and kill off all these great characters we introduced in Aliens, and the correlation between mother and daughter. It stunk, but hopefully I'll get a chance to rectify all that [with Alien 5]."
So what do you think of Arnie & Cameron teaming for Alien 5?

Now Demon has another opportunity to take in 1) Cameron making another movie, 2) Arnold saying, "I'll be back."
Maybe it will make up for T3.

You got that right Guidon. If this comes to be, this would be an awesome movie. Cameron never fails when it comes to deep action movies.
Arnold would be a great military character too, Predator anyone?

I saw T3 and it turned out okay(Demon thought it totally sucked, but that's his opinion and I respect it), actually better than I thought. Yes, it has a few small plot holes, but T-series still intact. T2's still the best Arnold movie made.

James Cameron's still human and there is no way he can "rectify" any movie after a sequal like Alien Resirection(which was personally the worse movie I ever saw). He does fail when it comes to deep sea movies, remember the Abyss.

He'll be great in the role as long he lightens his accent or plays a German character.
And speaking of predator, there's an Alien vs Predator movie in the works, which is a completely separate project directed by the same guy who was behind the Resident Evil movie(I sadly went to see that movie on the first day). Probability of this movie turning out good very low.

"James Cameron's still human and there is no way he can "rectify" any movie after a sequal like Alien Resirection(which was personally the worse movie I ever saw). He does fail when it comes to deep sea movies, remember the Abyss."
Well, Cameron didn't do any Alien movie other than Aliens. If he does an Alien 5, it doesn't really have to follow the events of Alien 3 or Alien 4. It can simply be of something completely irrelevant, but bringing Ripley back would be stupid, so I hope Weaver is kept out of it if it actually gets made.
So, what is wrong with the Abyss?? I thought the movie was good, well, the theatrical version's ending didn't make one bit of sense at all, but the uncut version is really good.
"And speaking of predator, there's an Alien vs Predator movie in the works, which is a completely separate project directed by the same guy who was behind the Resident Evil movie(I sadly went to see that movie on the first day). Probability of this movie turning out good very low."
Well, I think it would be kind of stupid because it'll just have to follow the comics since the Alien and Predator universes does not really coincide. The Alien skull in Predator 2 was a cute little easter egg, but Predator 2 wasn't really such a great movie to begin with.

I totally agree with this... I mean I was such a HUGE fan of the games and he made this movie lookl like a comedy...... and to think the studios have already agreed on a Resident Evil 2.....
If we all remember the end of Alien4.... they about to land on earth.... I can see the plot already.... battling those aliens on earth....... if JC is in charge... no doubt it'll be a "full on" "all out" battle between humand and those aliens..
In fact I cant recall any bad movies James Cameron has made... Titanic was long and boring but the sinking of the Titanic was great !!!
IMO.....I'd be happy for JC to do Alien5 if it ever happens

James -The Boat Sank- Cameron is higly over rated. I will watch another Alien movie but only if Ridley Scott makes it.

How is James Cameron over rated? Because he hasn't made a lot of movies? Ridley Scott made SOME good movies in the past, including Alien and I kind of liked Blade Runner, but that's about it. Gladiator was a fad that people forgot about after a little while, or realized that it wasn't as uber as they thought it was once they sat down and watched it again. Black Hawk Down was an all out frag fest that was enjoyable the first time through. Which I liked, but I'll have to say I probably wouldn't want to watch it over again.
James Cameron doesn't simply direct movies, he either wrote the movies he made, or had a huge part in writing them. He's also not the conventional action director. I'll use Terminator 2 as an example, since that's the movie I know the best, is chock full of symbolism and a lot of deeper aspects than most people realize from watching it the first time. James Cameron is also very keen on minute details that sometimes are so minute, people don't even notice it, but he ensures things are accounted for.
Most action directors only use camera tricks to accomplish something that they cannot really do with the actors and vehicles or whatever. Such as simulating vehicles moving faster than they really are, ie Fast and Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious, or to make an action scene seem more intense than it really is by "shaking" it, ie. Gladiator.
Cameron, uses camera tricks often used in more psychological movies, or those used for thrillers and such to set moods, and the way he does it is not like he read it in a book that you can do so and so and it would make the scene more intense, and then he'll just force this camera effect down your throat. He makes them so subtle that consciously you will never really notice it, but it will have a subconscious effect one you.
A good example of this is the scene in the hospital when Sarah Conner was getting reviewed by Doctor Silberman. When they sat down and talked, they went between Silberman and Sarah with static cameras, supposed to be a calm, and composed mood. This continues until Silberman started to doubt what Sarah is telling him, and suggests that she's not being honest. She then starts pleading with him. When the camera went to her when she starts pleading, instead of a static view, it started to SLOWLY pan in closer to her, like slowly zooming in on her. And it does the same when it goes back to Silberman. No one really notices this, but the slow panning makes that moment a little more tense, like it helps portray Sarah's desperation. Of course, right when Sarah snaps and attacks Silberman, the camera becomes even less static and becomes more of a documentary type of hand held filming.
I'm just getting pretty specific with that one scene, there are little things like this all throughout the movie.
The sunglasses in T2 was supposed to signify the fact that T800 is a machine, and throughout the beginning of the movie, they used camera angles on Arnold to just make him look like a towering machine. Especially in the night scene where T800 explains it all to John in the back-alley/additional parking. They use soft blue lighting on Arnold to give him an almost metallic, machine, look, but it's believable to be natural lighting. This machine look was enhanced by the lower static camera angle and the dark sunglasses which hides his eyes.
Later in the movie when he goes to rescue Sarah, one of the guards smash his face with her cast, and breaks his glasses. This is when he's about to gain Sarah's trust, and from that moment on in the movie, he is supposed to be more human, more of the human protector to Sarah and John kind of like Kyle Reese was in T1. That's why he uses Kyle's line of "Come with me if you want to live." and also why his sunglasses were broken. The losing of his sunglasses was supposed to symbolize him becoming more human, thus, being able to see the eyes.
Now in T3, the sunglasses are like a fashion statement. The new director completely missed the point. *sigh*
Oh, and if anyone noticed, throughout the movie the theme of the three of them being a dysfunctional family kept getting repeated. Especially at the abandoned gas station where the vehicle they steal is nothing else but a station wagon. Hahaha.
Anyway, don't get me started on T2. I love that movie. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Alien vs Predator should stay a video game, nobody has any confidence in that upcoming movie. I wonder if AvP3 is in development.
back to T3, the ending(even though it's not happy-go-lucky, since 3 billion people died) hints a promising sequal. Do you think Jimmy will come back for T4?

some directors are only interested in making movies for money.....

1. Keep Arnold away from the Alien series. Arnold is not an actor that fits the theme. And I do not think he is a military style actor either, he is just not very believable as a soldier IMHO.
2. I am more than willing to disregard the events of Alien 3 since I always hated that movie. Just like stated, its insane that the first thing they do is kill of the survivors from Aliens.
3. The success of Aliens was highly related to the intense action, the cool characters and a sharp dialogue between them (and of course the setting itself). This is one reason I believe Arnold should be kept of, because he isnt capable of pulling of that kind of acting and dialogue.
4. If they make an Alien 5 I hope they stay away from white hybrid alien/humans and cloning. Why not continue to explore what the Aliens really are, where they come from and what was that derelict ship all about?
XyZspineZyX

Well, I have to admit Arnold fits more in the one man army movies, but that's only the image we know of him. I'm pretty sure he can fit into a squad based military movie. Of course he would stick out, but so did Animal in Full Metal Jacket, but that didn't ruin the movie at all. Not to mention if they really wanted Arnie to slim down, he can do that, so he would not be this big muscular guy that looks like he can barely move. The only problem I see is that he is getting a little old to fit into some commando military role right now.

-Arnold saying, "I'll be back."
-Maybe it will make up for T3.
AH-nold better learn a new character, because his rendition of the cyborg in T3 wasnt
impressive in the slightest(well maybe the part with the elton john glasses, but hes a cyborg and doesnt have 3rd person view, so he shoulda left them on untill someone said something IMO more believeable)(a robot that knows cool, must be a new program C:\human\cool.exe)
I enjoyed T3 because,
a) I wanted to
b) I wanted a sequel(the alternate ending on T2 was horrible)
c) claire danes is hot when angry and welding an AK
d) it left a big whole for a sequel(which ill go see on the first day of release)
-my god, what more plot holes are they going to fill up
-with 5? I mean in 3 Ripely dies, and
-is back in 4? lol
the skin cells taken from ripley somewheres in A3(I think from the swipe at her in the end)
and she was a clone after all in the 4th, so you could call it a cover up of a plot mistake, but she was in the facility for a few days and im sure left a few dna sample here and there(shower shower, say the shower, nm). and the point of her getting cloned is arguable, but it worked IMO.
-I saw T3 and it turned out okay(Demon thought it totally ---sucked, but that's his opinion and I -respect it),
-actually better than I thought. Yes, it has a few small
-lot holes, but T-series -still intact. T2's still the best
-Arnold movie made.
very true
aliens 4(ressurection or anal retention) wasnt that bad, it wasnt good by a long stretch, but it didnt leave a list of plot holes. although thats the last of its genre for me, no more 5 minute plots for me, it was better the first 2 times around.
alien/s gets out and kills everybody, there gunna get in here and there gunna get in here and there gonna kill us, protagonist massacres alien/s.....the end
I happend to like pred2 for some odd reason, and the two universes only needed to collide at one point, the skull in pred 2, as the movie alien took place well after the events of pred 2.
-Do you think Jimmy will come back for T4?
if thats the actor that played john connor on T3, yeah at the end where the rebels are standing against a flag with the light shining on them, hes got old grey hair and a slash over his eyebrow, signifiying that hes very old as of then.
if not, then the ending of T3 will forever seal the fate of the series. you cant put someone in a role for a sequel and end up having someone else play that role, thats just cheesy.
that would be like danny glover playing AH-nold on pred2, no way your gonna pass off a Black man in his 40s whos a cop, as a veitnam vet who would be about 60s and in a wheelchair and also who is white( with an austrian accent).
-I am more than willing to disregard the events of Alien 3
-since I always hated that movie. -Just like stated, its
-insane that the first thing they do is kill of the

insane, but money dont grow on trees, and its perfectly believable.

off the top of my head.....hmmmmm look whos talking maybe
-Alien is finished. It was finished after Ridley
-Scott's "Alien" I have always felt. James -Cameron making
-another Alien film is one of those " Just for the sake of"
- things. Anyways...
nothing can hurt the immortal memory of alien(and aliens my fav), but would you rather have advertising thrown in your face about the divine secrets of the ya-ya brotherhood, or hows about bounce2........spitfire oven anyone?.........or your fav phenomenon2:ressurection.
the complete and total lack of "new" in the scripts for all these movies angers me, but then thats all your going to get, you know what I'm gonna say before I say it, little timmy wants explosions, sex scenes, one liners, rambo-like protagonists, alcohol, guns, and o yea explosions. If they were to go out of their way and make more movies that just make you think, yet still add all the explosions and sex scenes, things would be all good.(makes me want to write a script, but fear people would run like ---- from it).
the best movie ive seen IMO in the past 4-5 years in minority report, and even that was only above average on any scale. just the inclusion of hey you need to think about what happend to get it I liked(ala Mission Impossible 1-2).
as for AVP, i sure hope they smarten it up, but I wont be among the first day crowd, maybe if i hear its good
as for A5, once again I sure hope they smarten it up, and drop the whole mixing of alien species with human, most uninteresting plot point ive ever seen

Honestly, if they make an Alien 5, directed by James Cameron, I would expect them to find a way to totally disregard the third and fourth movies. Maybe they would claim that the third and fourth movies were a hyperspace dream, allowing them to retain the characters of Bishop (maybe not), Ripley, Newt, and whats his name (the marine guy). That would also allow them to make a joke like "Oh, so that's why they were so lame" (but told better).
Yeah, after they discount the last two movies, they could proceed with a normal, compelling, Winona Rider free plot.

Yeah, he is a little punk in the movie. But that's only because when he was a child, he was told so often he would be, and then he explains in the movie that he's waited so long. So when the war does begin, he has a less negative outlook on his position.
