as of the recent 1.3 patch ubi has sped up the game by removing bullet hole puffs on the walls.

now when i shoot the action is a minimum the special effects are not there to spice up the action.

i would much rather take the fps loss for the wall puffs or maybe a toggle on off switch.

and dont try one puff for every 5 or 10th shot thing i want one puff for every bullet hole.

I have to agree with you, I would rather see the return of the dust particles for ALL bullets.

I have lost track of the number of times the dust puffs have helped me......either letting me know how my aim is when shooting at long range, or knowing that I am being fired at at long range (eg on peaks map) and knowing from which direction it is coming from.

I understand the reasons why UBI took this action but please in future make such things an option so that those of us who are lucky enough to get good rates of fps already can choose whether or not to sacrifice some of the "eye candy"

Thanks

I agree. Taking out fx is not the answer. Coding...coding...say it with me....coding.

Yup, bullet effects help alot. Make it a toggle.

UT2003 and all its crazy other-world effects doesn't slow down on my system like RvS does. Does UBI have any other Unreal engine games that perform better?? I guess their developers are really learning as they go...

all u guys do is complain.

if u look in options under graphics settings, u can set the delals to high, low or off.

hope this helps u and stop flaming these boards.

No it doesn't. Particle effects are not decals.

What ever they did to improve FPS somehow decreased mine from 60-80, to about 15-20 on average. And if smoke/gas is thrown, or people fire at me...a nice RvS slide show.

IF the 'fix' would have worked as expected then maybe there wouldn't have been much to complain but the truth is IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY.

They should have damn thought of MAKING IT A SLIDE BAR, A DROPROWN BOX OR WHATEVER, since this way youre screwed if you want it like it was before.

yeh now if i fire a round i cant tell where the hell it hit. so how can i tell how far im missing a target?

well i spose im just gonna have to do some guess work when shooting like how the devs guess wen coding.... "er yeh ill delete this bit and this bit here. kool i made a deploying 1 bug, ubi are goin to be sooooo proud"

As has been already stated that doesn't even apply. If you'd payed attention to the patches the latest removed a great deal of visual effects relating to bullet holes and impact effects in a brute force attempt to increase the game's speed.
They removed the effects for EVERYONE, with no option to get them back. So those of us that were running just fine before hand lost visual detail that we can't get back. And some of the people who were running just fine are now running SLOWER because of it, despite the loss in detail.

All of what I've said is fact. Some of it was stated in the patch readme, some of it has been stated TIME AND TIME AGAIN by users. Is stating the negative results of a patch flaming?

In any case, I'm with everone else who's said they want the detail back. It feels like the patch may have sped my game up slightly in indoor scenes without much going on. Smoke or gas however slows me down incredibly, and going outside will almost make my game pause for a moment and then the frame rate will be dramatically less. This didn't happen before the patch, and it didn't even deal with this area. Night vision also sometimes slows things down more than it used to.
At the same time I never noticed a slowdown in firefights before, so I wouldn't be able to tell if it was fixed.
I REALLY don't understand why they didn't make it an option. A command line parameter would have sufficed. Or a flag in an ini file.

well since 1.2 i can hardly fight in a firefight.

it doesnt help when 5 people are runnin round with MGs and the laggy game has to cope with muzzle flares and sound etc.

I don't think they should have taken them out like they did either. Hopefully they can make it an option.
