View Full Version : Stop server refresh button[?]

Does anybody know of a console command or something to stop the multiplayer server list from refreshing?
With the increase of servers out there, i find it's getting annoying waiting around for the game to ping all the servers on the Ubi master list [which i'm finding to take quite a bit of time as of late...], especially since the servers i usually frequent, pop up within the first few seconds...
This wouldn't be too bothersome if the refresh actually -stopped- when i went back to the main menu or entered a game.. However, in both cases, it doesn't [and you can imagine what it does to my game if i hop into a server]...
Anybody know anything?
Or is anybody having a similar issue with this and think a "Stop Server Refresh" button should possibly be implemented in a later patch?
[yeah i realize this is kind of petty compared to the issues everyone else is having... but i figured it was obnoxious enough to ask about].
Note:
Yes i popped this in the tech support forum, and all i was told was to turn off the game types i wasn't looking for and turn on a bunch of filters... However, if this is like any other normal server list, doing that does nothing but prevent the servers from being displayed... Correct?

I agree. It takes me more time to load the
server list than I actually get to play the
game. Especially if I have to try to join
3 or 4 servers to find a good game. One
solution is to just host your own game,
but it sure would be nice to have a stop
refresh button. This problem is one of the
main reasons I've almost given up on
multiplayer.
Setting the filters only seems to
hide those servers from the screen, not make
it go any faster.
And I should probably make a new thread for this
question, but I'm already here so...
Does anyone think that upgrading from a Soundblaster
PCI to a Soundblaster audigy gamer will fix my
5-10 fps? I notice when I turn sound completely off
from the system file I get up to around 40 fps
while with low sound on I get 5-10.
Thanks

Great idea. I know it has to refresh all the servers whether you pick Team Survival, Hostage....whatever because that's how it finds what the server is running what game type (I assume) but why can't it just refresh servers you marked as favorites? I play on about 5 different servers and have them as favorites and that's all I really want refreshed.
Of course...I more often use All Seeing Eye so the in-game browser doesn't make that big a deal to me.

I totally agree with what you guys are saying. It is real bad if you have a slow connection, like 56k. I just upgraded from 56k to cable in the last week.
The delay is still there, but I dont care how many players or on or how many servers there are. I play with my friends only.
So for me it stinks, I just want to hit that join ip button only.
Peace...

All Seeing Eye is a game server browser. It supports almost every online game you could ever own. I registered it in the first week. You can also keep track of buddies playing online and quickly find the server they are playing in and join them.
Check it out here:

why register it when you can get unlimited 7 day extensions to the trial period.;-) The resource junk doesnt hurt me much, its not like i need to refresh every 2 seconds. It also gives me a ping to servers when my firewall settings don't let me get pings through the in-game browser.

use the in game browser. set the pings to show only games under 75 ping.
My ladder stats. If you have the game installed in the default dir, our website has:
1. Live stats to see if spots are available.
2. "Insta-Join" to our servers from the webpage.
3. 10MB server with freaking fast map downloads.

Mr Ihatetologin, This is what I know, there seems to be sort of an issue about that. Many people have said that the only intergrated card you want to play with is the Nforce chipsets. Those are to offer you the best performance.
I am not sure if you are an internet shopper or not, but you can easly find a very cheap Audigy Gamer card, that is what I have. I got mine for $99.00 US at Bestbuy. Now there much cheaper.
I have both an intergrated sound card, called soundmax and a Audigy Gamer like I stated above, could not really tell a difference, but EAX with the Audugy is a plus.
The only problem is, enabling EAX takes up your FPS. So you lose anyway. I play with sound on low, and no hrtf.
My friend has the Soundblaster Live, I put my Audugy inm his machine, no difference.
I would buy the Audigy simply for EAX with your other EAX enabled games.
Up to you.... Hope this helps...
