I am so pleased to be a part of this experience. I get many responses from techies here and at the bottom it says check "here" for updates. Well the updates are often general and dated/old.
Today there is a big problem. We need something that says date/time/problem and that they are presently working to solve it! We don't get that info, so we come here and post soooo very much when a little better specific updating as to what problems UBI/Uru is aware of and what they are doing. Then all won't have to come here, do lengthy searches, post to already started threads about the problem, or we could come here and just say, "Meeee toooo" so that the numbers of people experiencing the same thing verifies the problem.
The only reason posting would be needed is to inform UBI of the number of people having the same issue.
***Can you tell us what today's problem is with being unable to enter the game although all is updated and loaded?
***Can you tell us that their is havoc in the offices and people are scrambling to solve it? That would reassure us so much.
http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gifOtherwise, we sit here wondering if it's our computer or some individual problem!

If there is a "specific" update/problem ID spot and I haven't found it, please share the link.
Just a suggestion. I don't wanna sound whiny at all as I love this game! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Please do not send me to the Updates page with the generality type posts that are not that specific again! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif We wanna help you but UBI can help us with information. Thanks sooo very much!

Unless I've completely missed something, "here (http://www.cyanworlds.com/status.htm)" is the best official word from Ubi we've got right now. Failing an official update, you can get a real good idea of status by looking at the topics in these Forums. Very few shy folks here.

Up-to-the-minute word on what's happening with Uru would be great, but if I'm given a choice between Ubi folks spending their time on that or on getting the problems fixed, I'll take the fixing every time!

I agree but then again, it would be nice to know that it's not our computers or something on our side. It's just a thought, kind of like the cable company! We call in and they report area outages, that way we know we don't need to call for service. Thanks! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If there is a major problem, WHY DOES IT SAY ALL SERVERS ARE WORKING? This is why you guys get so many repeat questions, BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A PLACE TO GO FOR CURRENT, ACCURATE INFORMATION!!! And of course I want people to be fixing the problem, but how long can it take to have ONE tech post a notice that there is a problem? I thought that was the point of having "Official Announcements."

I think a once-a-day official post addressing any major issue(s) isn't too much to ask for.

One of the posts in a different area of the forum this afternoon was that the Atrus server was down. I have no idea if that is true or not.

Also, from lots of posts I've read today, it seems many people are getting a black freeze screen.

I can't even get into live yet, and I'm being as patient as I can be (thanks to help from our great mods), so I don't really feel sorry for anyone who has gotten in but is having temporary problems (just kiddin'), but I can appreciate people's frustration at the lack of information coming from Cyan/Ubi.

Because I kept getting so many problems, I am re-installing os and using my yucky laptop keyboard. I got that directos authoring error.
After researching in the forums, there were too many possibilities as to what it could be! And w/o news if it was my problem or server, I decided to do it. Besides, it will clean out the 3 installations of Uru.
Now I need to recheck how to insert the sav folder. All I read about doing that is to "overlay" it. Well that could mean several things. Do I drag out the new one and insert the old one? I want the single cd version completed on my computer.
I'm wondering if these are possible to share?
It just gets confusing for us non-techie types!
I haven't even started the dreaded Gateway drivers from their tech site...still trying to learn how to install their installations...meaning "cabs" which I don't understand...One thinks something is installed then finds out in the Readme folder it needs installing after downloading.
What fun!
Have updated drivers acc. to Nielson's last suggestions but the little ones, like the keyboard are fussy! Haha.

mary,

'Overlay' usually means 'copy over or replace'. What you want to do is replace the fresh-install \sav folder and subfolders with your saved \sav folder and subs.

The easiest way to do that is to right-click on the saved \sav icon and, while holding down the right mouse button, drag the icon onto the fresh-install \sav folder. Then release the button. You should get a menu asking whether you want to Move here, Copy here, etc. Left click on Copy here and the saved \sav will be copied over the fresh-install \sav.

Yes, with new game, I just dragged the sav folder and have all books and progress.
Too bad I can't correct the online Teledahn errors by re-importing Teledahn book!

I get in Uru sometimes, then other times, I fail to log in. It's frustrating. I have missed so much progress. Just got in and out with a group where I got my dock book. Now I can't get back in.
Thanks for game save help!
