According to the bottom of the box, which I'm staring at right now, the oldest Radeon card supported is the 9000. In other words, your card isn't supported. I know the game will work with the 8500, but older than that, I can't guarentee it. That's probably what that error means, something the game wants to do is impossible to do because the video card won't let it.
My system:
AMD XP 3000+ @ 2.23Ghz
1 gig of Corsair DDR PC2700 RAM @354Mhz
Radeon 9800 Pro video w/TV out core @434, mem @730

Microsoft Directx 9.0b
Antec TruePower TrueBlue True480 PSU
LiteOn DVD+/-RW drive
24x10x40 Plexwriter CD-RW
1 Maxtor Diamond 9 160GB SATA hdd
1 Westerndigital 40 gig harddrive
1 Westerndigital 100 gig hdd (external)
Asus A7V600 VIA KT600 mainboard, 4-in-1 4.49

Ok, good to hear. Go to www.intel.com (http://www.intel.com) and get your new motherboard drivers. When you install them, reinstall your video card drivers. You seriously need to consider a new video card. That card is too old to really run anything. The bottom of the box is misleading. It says 9000, 9700,9800, GF2, GF3, GF4, GFFX. You can get a good card for around $150 and up.

by new motherboard drivers u mean a BIOS update?
yeah I know about the card it is old and doesn't provide me with enough programming features either (shaders, etc). I'll prolly upgrade to a 9600XT (OEM is really cheap) in the near future but for now it'll have to do.

I have the lastest drivers including BIOS (P08).
I also started a new game, did everything but go into the IRIS room to avoid a crash but now it is also crashing when I enter a cave in my hovercraft.
Anything else you can think of? Besides a new video card.
Thanks

That's about all I can really think of. If it's crashing in that manner, it's usually hardware related. That particular video card you had came out when ATI was still a baby company and couldn't compete with nVidia. ATI has just recently become respectable.
