The fixes included are as follows:

RVS v1.56
-Locked the debug commands that were left unlocked in the previous patch.

AS v1.02
-Fixed a bug in the meta data of certain maps that caused operatives of opposing teams to have similarly colored uniforms.

-On Siberia, the armor levels of the two opposing teams were set at different levels. This has been resolved.

well i'm inquiring about another patch, hopefully in the near future. Map optimizations include: texture detail dropped or coding simplified, which will bring FPS up to playable levels.

is there going to be a patch to lenghten the time you are stuned in capture the enemy the game could be so much better if the stun time was 20 thirty seconds . cause now if you on on your own aganist a couple of people you just cant win

im just kinda curious if everyone thats having problems with low fps rates have tried changing the ini files to allow you to increase the cache size and allow you to play at resolutions and refresh rates that your monitor and vid card can handle?

i was playing on 1024 x 768 with a fps of 30 and below(way below). was completly unplayable and then i dropped the res to 800 x 600 and i got over 30 fps back. im using an ati 9000 so its not top of the line by any means and yes i do play multiplayer.

there are simple things in the ini files to tweak for sound issues as well. i have a sound blaster and ive read that alot of people are using the same thing with problems left and right. all my drivers are up to date, ive adjusted the ini file for the sound so that i get it at a different frequency than a default install would give. that and ive adjusted the cashe as well for my sound card.

i dont have any problems with the game after any of these system tweaks(system wise). there is a sticky post in the self help area that explains some of these tweaks.

Wow, I went out and bought AS last night. Installed and it killed my FPS on AS AND RVS. I havent dug through all my ini's but I can tell you the day prior I was averaging 80-200 fps in game. Bottom end was 60-70 at worst. Now I have trouble getting over 70 in game at times. Is it possible it set some bad params? I havent done any tweaks except disable vsync. Just installed RVS last week on a new 3.2ghz, ati9800xt yada yada and it was smokin till last night. My first real dissapointment with RB6.

There should be different patches to download to suit your needs. If you are doing a fresh install you could use the 1.0-1.56. If you're at 1.55, there should be a 1.55-1.56, and so on.

Don't hold me to this, but I remember hearing in previous patches that BT checked with someone at UBI, and the 1.0-1.56 *should* be compatible with any version you are currently running. Perhaps when BT comes in he can confirm this for us.

OK heres my problem.. i was running 1.55 and AS 1.01, then i patched to 1.56 and then to 1.02, 1.56 works great.. but AS stills says 1.01.. i+ve seen alot of other servers that is on 1.02 but i canâÂ´t get it to work...

patch 1.02 again and see what results you have. MAKE sure you exit the game before you patch. There must be a file or two that didnt get updated.

Then make sure you stop the servers before you patch. So far it has patched successfully on the servers we have done it on.

Maybe re-download the AS102 file to make sure you have the correct one.

Dear UBI,
Do you even try anymore? I just went map by map in Athena after I patched my game and heres what is now BLUE VS GREY and WAS Blue Vs Green: Multi 5, Castle, Streets, Farrie (never fixed), and Chemical. now instead of the 4 i could think of we have 5 that will be mass TKs for sure, Thanks UBI!
Possible Solution: How about actually BETA testing, oh yes, a new phrase...BETA TEST....try it some time,or better yet....just leave the game alone once you release it, i have not seen one patch do anything it is spose to and its getting very, very annoying. Because of your lack of responsiblity, I for one, and a few others on my clan, will not be purchesing anouther one of your games.
Thank you for releaseing a patch that was worse then the one you released previous to it.

right, guess there is something new the patch 1.56 does. If ppl nade there is normally a wee bit of smoke. But now the smoke stays for 10 secs!! My gfx card doesnt like this at all and yes also with 1.55 it doesnt like it, but this is much nastier!

then 2nd. the nades seem to fly out a bit later then usual i tested it on several servers and i seem to have this problem on every server.

1.55 worked FINE for me, no problems at all. But now the nade smoke thing and nades flying out a bit later?!?!

My specs:
amd 3200+, radeon 9600 pro 128 oc'd to 9700 pro, corsair 512 ddr400 pc3200 CAS2.

Low detailed smoke = ON

Scabby, i would fix the unis, but several ladders will not allow that, also, if u read what the patch was going to fix, it said it would change the unis that where close, well it just made more of them. Kind of ruins the point of a patch doesnt it?

Lo Euro, i dunno what system u have, but even tho there is a strong fps drop on some of the maps, it's very playable on mine.

I play on high detail (maxlod=16), shadows off <-- (don't like that, but it makes the fps drops in fights go away) on a amd 3200+ with 512 ram, 9600 pro, sb live!. The worst i have seen so far was 30 on some spots. normal 50-110. I paid 20 Euro (lol) for it, and that was money well spend!

I haven't been getting these issues, as I have not bought the game as of yet. However, I have been reading quite a few posts talking about this issue, and a few of the members have fairly decent systems. The system I'm playing regularly on now is an AMD 2200+, radeon 9600 pro, 1024 PC2300 RAM, and a soundblaster audigy gamer. I'm sure it'll run fine on my high-end system, but I'm keeping that one clean for now.

I installed 1.56, then 1.02 but when I push the Ravenshield icon to play th egame without Athena Sword, it says it's still on 1.55. I tried repatching to 1.56 but it says im already their..

RS Original is sitll on patch 1.55 after being patched to 1.56 and AS after being patched to 1.02 says this when I try to start.

I'm having the exact same problem as bonez. Sometimes it instead comes up with a black screen and a text insertion point cursor. Fun. I'm going to spend the next hour removing the whole thing, reinstalling and trying the 1.0-1.56 patch.

The change to blue vs. grey unis sounds awful. I'd be happy to put up with it, though, if I could just get the game to run...

I installed the 1.56 RS patch without a hitch - - now when I try and update Athena Sword to v. 1.02 I receive an error message saying:
"Could not retrieve installation folder. Installation will be aborted."
Anyone have any hints at what might be ailing me?

I would recommend that you do NOT try to re-install from the RVS CD and then install the 1.0-1.56 patch. RTPatch displayed an error message about an original file being missing and then patched ravenshield.exe right out of existence. Unfortunately, the RVS patches don't seem to configure RTPatch to create a patch log file, so I don't have the error.

I'm going to try 1.0->1.54->1.55->1.56 this time. Hopefully it will work, since it seems to have worked for most people.

Armor & Uniforms issue is not fixed in Athena Sword. Before anyone flames, you should read what the issues are first. They are the same problems that existed from the start.

The issue was never playing Athena Sword Gametypes. Playing the new AS Gametypes always allowed you to edit the map.ini file and select any armor or color you wanted. The problem is playing the original Raven Shield Gametypes in Athena Sword. Playing any Coop gametypes(TH, Mission or Hostage) and the original adversarial games TDM, DM, Pilot, Hostage and Bomb. You can not change the armor or uniforms for these gametypes in Athena Sword. You can edit the map.ini and change them, but they always default to MediumBlue and MediumBlueCamo. The settings for the armor and uniforms are not being carried out. These can be changed and always could be changed in Raven Shield, but sadly you can not set them in Athena Sword(playing R6 Gametypes). This is the real issue and needs to be addressed and should of been addressed in this last patch. Now, in a non-dedicated or single player setup those armor and color changes will be in effect. Just not in a dedicated server setup. This also applies to tango attachments like, flashlights, gasmasks, sunglasses, anti-smoke glasses, laser sights and radios. The Tangos can all be equipped with these in a non-dedicated and single player enviroment, but not in a dedicated server setup.

Please address these issues. I love Coop terrorist hunt and dont like Medium armor. Thanks.

Ok, scratch the warning about not installing the 1.0->1.56 patch. The problem only occurs if you do not FULLY uninstall RVS. After the un-installer runs, it leaves behind some of its own files, as well as a lot of punkbuster files. Remove the entire directory (keep the saves directory if you want your profile and saves), and then re-install. For some reason, if there are files left in the system directory, ravenshield.exe doesn't seem to get installed properly.

After uninstalling (for the third time tonight :]), removing the entire rvs directory, and the re-installing, the 1.0->1.56 patch applied cleanly. RVS is now working happily.

Installing Athena Sword after this causes the installer to give a scary warning about mismatched registry entries:

"Warning : registry entries does [sic] not match the current version of Raven Shield."

followed by a more cheerful and explanatory notice that you'll need to update AS after installation because the RVS version is ahead of AS. Duh.

Install AS 1.0->1.02 patch, then install ubi.com, then let ubi.com upgrade itself, put in both cd keys... voila. It's working. I had to go in and out of the video options menu to get it to resize properly to 1600x1200, but it's going fine now.

So if anyone else gets boned by the patch, be sure to FULLY un-install and delete the whole RVS directory before re-installing.

Any way i looked on fileplanet and it has UK retail version, 1.53-1.54 and 1.54-1.55 and 1.55-1.56, but i couldn't see 1.52-1.53.

I accidently updated Athena Sword to 1.02 before updating Raven Shield to 1.56. Now my sound is all screwed up. It is extremely loud at some times, and I can not adjust the volume. The footsteps go real loud and then real soft off and on. Sounds in-game are not coming from the appropriate direction. For instance, a person firing to my right sounds like they are on my left. I tried updating to 1.02 again, but the patch said it was already upgraded and it wouldn't let me patch. Any ideas? Hopefully I do not need to completely re-install...

I didnt think so either, but it managed to screw my game up.

Did a full reinstall and the the next day about 40 files form my system folder were missing, blanks everywhere. Searching my computer found a few in odd playes like Documents & Settings but some were flat out gone.

I finally reinstalled the game and went from 1.0 - 1.56, Then dual installed w/ another copy, installed AS to this and updated to 1.02.

Was too much of a hassle tyring to play both out of one folder.

AS patch 1.02, Old file not found.However a file with the same name was found.Will not update because content is different.
Error 36!! I haven't done nothing to the files. It patched to 1.01 with no problems. Any help would be apprecriated!!

I have Raven Shield version 1.55 and it wont let me update to version 1.56
It says thereâ's a "missing or invalid registry/INI entry" when you click ok it says:
"old file does not exist" I clicked ok and it said "RTPatch engine exited with error code 15, patch was not applied"

I used the auto update service.
1.56 worked fine.

1.02 found that the files do not match
on construction site and closed.

Like the last guy, I tried to change the
uniforms myself. But, I don't have an
original copy of the ini's so I'm stuck.

What's the reasoning behind the installer
closing if the files aren't an exact match?

Interesting update. My main menu now says 1.02.
I was able to join and play in 2 different
1.02 servers coop. Haven't tried adv yet.
Guess you only need to try to install 1.02
to get to 1.02. Not sure what will happen
when 1.03 comes around.

I know this has been discussed before but it worked for me with AS.
I uninstalled RVS but left the settings file (during uninstall it asks you if you want to completely delect settings files , i said no)
THen I patched up to V1.54 and then installed AS. On online setup i let the auto pathcer bring me up to date on the patches RVS and AS.
On playing SP however I saw that my fps was down to 15-25 and the wep sounds were practically silenced.
I went to check my Directx diagnostics and sure enough in the SOUND tab the sound accelerator was on full, I pushed it back down to the first notch (I use onboard sound) and also set my screen res to 1028 x 780 @ 85hz.
I now have 59-90 fps, which i just tried on Sib 1 for 10 MP games, no lag and nice play.
The new SMG CBQsomething or other is hard to use instinctively due the exagerated angle that the barrel is drawn at , but the new Beretta is a very welcome adition.

Not exactly a true out of box install but we are getting there.

I'm french and don't want to talk about relationship between USA and France, so don't flame me.

I'm here to tell you that in France we have also terrible issues and even more, ie in the Montecarlo's hotel map, texture on the walls are so hugly that we can't say what they look like. Moreover, in the subway map, there is a voice that sounds very bad and we can't understand what it say (it is not french, even if french sounds weird for you people http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ).But we also understand that Ubi don't care about his customers, it is the same thing abroad.
The only solution for us is that Ubi release the SDK, but they are reluctant to it.

I wish that you understood that all the french are not dumb as some are.

With a max setting of 16 players, you can now have 17 players join your server. The person is stuck in spectate mode until a player leaves or is kicked.

Alright, I just reinstalled Raven Shield and Athena Sword completely and used the ingame feature to update both to the latest versions. I am still having sound problems. When I fire my weapon it is not very loud, but a computer player shooting behind me is EXTREMELY loud. Other sounds fade in and out. For instance, I am walking forward and my footsteps are louder than in past patch versions. When I make a 90 degree turn they are even louder... then I walk straight and my footsteps go back to semi-loud. What is going on? How do I fix this? I have SB Audigy 2 Audio. I tried restoring audio defaults... no luck with that either. The sound problem is so bad to the point that I cannot play the game. Am I the only one having this problem? Help ... please!

I was playing in LnD's AS server. We were playing a RvS Map (Streets) and after the match, we went to (MP) Chemical Plant, an AS map. My name was switched somehow from sK|Magnum to Player. It's no big deal, but it was a nuisance and I don't know how my name could be switched from that to Player. I was thinking it was a problem with switching from a RvS map to a AS map. Might look in to it. I was on patch 1.56/1.02.

UBI your patches suck. I just got around to patchng AS from 1.01 to 1.02 and everytime I go to join a server I get the AScharacters.u version mismatch. Or ASGAme.u mismatch or ASDescriptions.u mismatch. Eventually I had to download the SA updates for 1.02, delete my athenasword\system contents and install the ones from the SA update. Good job making the patch NOT UPDATE THE BLOODY FILES.

Here's an interesting one. . . I think. A buddy and I were playing a round of RvS Tango hunt hand guns only and we both ran our ammo down to zero. What we found was that we had unlimited reloads of 5 rounds each. Every time we'd reload we'd get an additional 5 rounds. This would not however happen with our primary gun as testing this did not repeat the issue.

Is this an issue? Just thought I would post. Otherwise this has to be the best patch out. . . the net code seems more stable and the textures seem to run better. IMHO.

we figured so far 3 bugs
1) AS soundbug, ppls who join AS games via ubi.com Gameingservice dont have shoting sounds of the new guns.

2) some ppls have problems with there CD Key, it gives "invalid key error message", no not misspelled 0 and o

3) some have no teammember name at the rets.

If it was complaining about the .exe file, you may very well have a virus. Get the latest scanner from f-prot.com (30-day free trial) if you aren't already running something updated very recently. Viruses tend to infect .exe files, changing them and causing patches to fail.

Perhaps UBI keeps putting out more patches to help everyone find out when they have viruses! Yeah, that must be it...

what the crap? who said "let's get the exploits out of the way first" because that's complete nonsense. first of all, had we never had crappy patches to begin with there wouldn't have been any exploits. Second of all, I'm still friggen waiting for this FPS crap to be fixed! Since I very first bought the game.. and it still hasn't been fixed? what the freaking crap is that? why is it that the demo was completely playable but the retail is not? I have no idea. Also, stop with the tweaking of the settings crap, a real game should not have to be tweaked out of the box to be playable. simple as that.

There is a issue/problem in this post, but it's got my opinion in it too. Copied from something I posted at TWL, I didn't want to start a new thread, and... well here it is.

I remember everyone complaining about fps/lag when 1.55 first came out. They were saying that AS was just totally killing framerates. Well I patched to 1.55 (without AS) and was shocked to find that performance had a drastic improvement for me. Things were actually running smoother. So I figured maybe it was only the new maps that were causing the problems.

On Friday I patched to 1.56. I played four rounds, and said @#$! this I'm through with RvS. From the second the first round started something was just wrong. I was holding down the run key and moving about as fast as I used to walk. Just walking was as fast as crawling. Felt like I was in molassess (and yes, I played with the netspeed setting for a while too, and while I could make things worse, I couldn't make them any better). The ping to the server I was on was a fairly steady 63, but it felt like I was on a 56k connection. Stuttering framerate everywhere (despite the fps counter), people were appearing around corners and taking me out with one shot, while I could sit there and take a quarter of a cmag into someone's back from three feet and not hit anything. People observing through me even said it was total bull. I was getting performance like my ping was 200+, but it never climbed higher than 94, and usually was down at 60 or so.

I suspect something went wrong, and that if I completely reinstalled and patched directly to 1.56 the problem might go away (as many people have found applying too many patches to one install eventually degrades performance). But I'm tired of it. I'm sick of them screwing this game up over and over again. Each patch fixed one old issue, brought an even older one back, and introduced a new one. I hadn't bought AS yet, and I'm not going to now. I may be totally done with RvS, but for now I'm just going to say I'm taking a break. A long one.

Ok, I patched 1.56 right when it was release a week or so ago. I played on it and had no problems. today, i tried to get on and when it launches the game I get a "Incompatible Version" window.

I'm not ******ed, so I know I didn't join games that aren't 1.56. I played on the same servers on sunday and everything was fine and now nothing will work.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a reason?

Are you connecting thru UBI or in-game browser. Some found that UBI connection is the cause for this.

Im here to tell you about a sound bug appearing on Athena Sword. I really dont know if it is a bug or if its the installation,(though I have installed the game several times) On any Athena Sword Servers I can't here any sound of the new weapons... & that really makes me a sad panda.. What should I do?

Look in the POST FIXES HERE post at the top of the forum. One suggestion you will find there is do not connect using UBI but rather the in-game browser. Several other fixes too.

I have two servers dedicating now on different IP address.
One is ADV server enabling PunkBuster and the other one is COOP server that was not enabled PunkBuster.
I attached Patch1.41 and dedicated each servers for several hours.
But each servers are going to freeze soon and cant join the servers.About 3 - 5 hours passes, Server will freeze.

I think SA servers atached patch 1.41 is so Freezeable.
1.41 SA Servers become freeze so Frequently.....

Whats do you think about it????

Administrator have to dedicate the servers more easy and safty I think.
If patch 1.41 SA Servers has something wrong, I hope that UBI will fix this issue.

I guess how many RvS copies Ubi sold in Brazil, because the support we get here is minimal.

And I wondering if they're going to release here only a "Gold Pack" including the original game and Athena Sword, as they usually do (showing the great respect they have to customers who bought the original).

I wonder if you could modify the files and registry and make the game think it is spanish in the same way we can fix english_us to english_uk? Might try changing _BRA to _SPA?
It might be worth a try if we can't get the answer from tech. I would wait a little longer to see if Kimi_ can get the answer.

Thanks for you effort man, but our real problem is that our Brazillian server requires a brazillian patch, because, if here (in Brazil) someone buy Raven Shield, the Brazillian version of this game, he will cannot play on our server, incompatible version you know

I don't have this problem cuz i use the US copy

if we change the server version, the new players will cannot play.

R u guys working on the Brazilian AS Patch? I'd like to see the Brazilian AS before the Patch! hehe well... its fact we all hate this localized versions, so, why cant game developers make those wonderful multilanguage games, always including the original language.. like GTA2 or SimCity 3000...

I dont know why, but when the brazilian RvS was released, it already came on version 1.2, and EA Brasil always takes forever to release the newer patchs!
Dont know if this is caused there, by UBI, or here, by EA, and, why r we diferent? cant we have at least the same localized versions the others get? being released on the same day as the US version, and being availiable for download on the big mirror sites and etc...

well... all i'd like to ask is to get the patches as soon as they r released! and if possible, register my complain about EA Brasil... they know jackabout new patches or any other stuff u ask (except for the price =P ) and we all hate localized versions,,,
as the game may be all translated by changing the inis contents, why cant the communities make the translations, or make'm optional for download on the site... the translation SUX!

Humm ok let me say something. The people from UK and US speak the same language (whit few modifications). We in Brazil speak Portuguese not Spanish, completely different from each other. So thats why we need our own patch. Lots of times when i play at the begginning it will be workin good then the next round or two or when it loads a new map... ex. when the bullets smash up against a wall or somethin the sound of bullet impact wont com up and pieces of the wall wont fly out or when you mow someone down blood wont spray out like it does when i first start... also the first round will work with graphics settings until the next round then they will change like jagged edges will be there im talkin about graphics settings on windows im usin ati. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif Good Day.m_1garand@hotmail.comMOHAA clan (http://www.pkbsnipers.tk)

Well the jagged edges you are talking about is probabaly caused by AA settings in your ATI setup. AA does not work with this game at this time. Niether UBI or ATI want to fix it. Some say you can revert back to the older 3.8 drivers to use AA.
They rest of your problems I've never heard of or seen. Make sure your decals option is on high in game options.

It's not games that make kids violent. it's coming from a distressed and insocialable family. I agree that they make them lazy though. They should only play a few hours a day. And if games make people violent, how do you describe Alexander the Great, Jack the Ripper or The Vikings? Eh?

Hi All, I have just updated to 1.56 and for some reson my game will not start cuz it ses "Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart", I don't know why, it was working for me when i had v1.53 but now it is not. I have both CDs, Is there anything i can do to fix this issue??

Ravenshield is asking me to insert the correct CDRom but I have the play disk (disk #2) in the cdrom already. What is happening?

Answer
First off, please note that CD-RW drives are not supported for the game and may be causing disk read problems. Secondly, any CD-ROM emulation software you have installed may also be the problem. If you have any of these programs (Daemon Tools, Clone CD, Alcohol 120%, etc), we recommend you disable this software when you want to play the game. In some cases, disabling it is not enough and you may need to uninstall the software in order to play the game.

The play disk for both Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield and Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword is the original Raven Shield Disk 2.

This is really annoying. i just bought as and installed it now i want to update as and it says it has found a version higher then 1.54 and that i need to update as but when i use the patch it says it has already found a new version of rvs. so this means i have to uninstall everything to update athena sword to 1.02 this only takes time why do they do that how come you can't just update athena sword even if you have already updated raven shield???

It's not that bad...go into options screen and turn on auto update. Click on search for updates (or something like that) and exit the game. Updator will then finish downloading the update, install it, and then you can re-enter the game. Works really slick. It will update both RvS and Athena.

I used to get that in the demo long, long ago but nothing recently. Don't know what causes it. Have you tried updateing your video drivers?
What video card do you have?

I still get that very rarely in 1.56, I just flush and it goes away for a little bit, then comes back. The good thing is it shows up when you're pointing in someone's general direction. Is the patch going to fix the weapons sound effects for the new AS weapons? As it is now they all sound very similar (kinda like an old typewriter) and the HK 7.62 sounds like a .22 suppressed. How about trying to make them sound a little more realistic eh?

i'm not surprised, but it seems as UBI sold the game is portuguese, but only patched it in english, german, french, italian, and spanish..maybe one of these will work? anyway, search for raven shield at www.3dgamers.com (http://www.3dgamers.com) and look under downloads for all the patches.

1.56 rvs, ever since the patch, I get this weird telekinesis when I open up doors some times. say I'm in a room, next to a hall way. when i open 1st door of hall way, the second door at end of hall way swings open.. Dusn't happen all the time, But it dus happen

I tested all the patches english, german, french, italian, and spanish.. and no one work in portuguese version.. so i won't be able to play on-line ?? UBI can't make a Portuguese version since the game exists in Brazil ?? or can I play on line without have this patch ?
