I play GR on XBOX and i was thinking of getting Gold Edition for the PC but i was afraid that i may not have the neccesary requirements...could you guys help me out...?? What do you need to know in order to help...???

haha...i will still play XBOX....and i dont wanna sound stupid but i really dont know my "specs"...is there any where i could check...all i could really tell ya is that i have a 56k modem...and Windows ME...sorry if thats not enough...

Run your dxdiag from the "run" command in start menu. Type "dxdiag" in the box and it should open a window that will show you the basics of your computer. Tell us the most important things about it (the ones I mentioned before). No need to post the whole thing.

Buddy post your dxdiag and follow the below and we will know how many times you take a crap doing that. This is going to be ggod seeing your computer name lol.


Dxdiag

start/run/ type in dxdiag click ok/ when it has finished loading/system tab/ down the bottom click SAVE ALL INFORMATIOM to desktop/copy and paste that in the forums.

Copy/Paste

You may know how to do this already, so overlook it if you do.

To copy/paste left click the left mouse button and while holding the left mouse button down drag it to the left then up the page until every word is highlighted. Then on any part of the highlighted words right click and a little window pops up and with the left mouse button click COPY.

Now come to the forums and place your thread for your problem and in the white space, right click the mouse button and another small window pops up. With the left mouse button click the word PASTE and your dxdiag is copy/pasted

Well, you're low on RAM and your video card ain't much either. Those are the main problems you got there. If you had a faster connection, you could have downloaded the demo and tried it first.

You <u>might</u> be able to run it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. You could, however, buy a new video card and some more RAM. That wouldn't come as expensive as buying a whole new computer. Your processor is enough for running this game, so don't worry about that. You could get away with well under 200 bucks if you bought a new video card and more memory.

my birthday is actually in august but...i know they arent doing so good financially, my mom just got denied for unemploymeny and my dad is on the verge of being layed off....i know if i asked them for it they would get it but they really dont have the money to upgrade right now...

Nope. That won't raise your computer's performance on games. Not enough anyway.

Check gr.net's mod forums. I'm sure there is a link to Frostbite's homepage somewhere in there.

To Claudeboy88,

Deleting old games and useless files and cleaning up your computer will aid in the overall performance of you computer. It won't aid in getting better specs and I suggest that you do a clean up anyway just to get better results out of your everyday use

well thats a shames about giving up...and in the words of sum1 else on this board(i forgot who)...if at first you dont succeed remove all evidence that says you ever tried....your not supposed to join em!!! well...i will do spring cleaning and i will buy GR GOLD and hope for the best, i will return it if neccessary but for now i will play on "the box" and i will stcik to the original wolfenstein for PC....

I have 512MB (4x128) of 168-pin PC-100 memory and a Matrox G450 AGP that you can have, but I don't think the Matrox has a 3D accelerator so that may not help. I don't know about AMD motherboards so I don't know if they use the same memory as Intel motherboards.


Snipe21,

You seem to know a lot about computers will GR run on a G450? I got Return to Wolfenstein to run on it, but GR has better 3D stuff in it. Will PC-100 memory work on his system?

I don't know about G450. I'm not very familiar with Matrox's line of cards (only had one of them). But that pc-100 will surely work on his computer. I'd bet his motherboard uses that type of memory.

GR will run fine on a Matrox G450. I played it at 800x600 with low detail models when I visited my parents - yeah I couldn't hold out for a whole week without GR.

It wasn't great but it was very playable.

If you can't upgrade the Graphics card at the momment (which is understandable cos they can be a tad expensive) it would still be worth upgradeing the RAM.

OK it's true you need a good graphics card to really make GR sing but RAM is as cheap as chips (pardon the pun) at the momment & would/could make a big difference to the overal performance.
