While I can understand Ubi's purpose in deliberately knobbling the game so this happens if you have virtual CD drives mounted (using Alcohol 120 or similar programs), there is absolutely no excuse for not making it obvious in the read-me that they have. That's your problem by the way - it's coded so that LOMAC won't run if you have any (even empty) virtual drives set up.
I happen to be a big fan of virtual drives when my LEGIMATELY PURCHASED software will allow itself to be mounted on them - they can speed things up enormously. I resent having to reset them, re-mount what was on them and generally fart about just because of some idiot Ubi suit's piracy paranoia.
