My friend feels that spy traps haven't beeped before the patch and I think they did. Someone help us out with the answer to this question. Thanks

Spy traps do not beep or have any lights on them in my unpatched SC:PT 1.0
The Proximity Mines do both beep and have a red light on them in 1.0
Does that mean spy traps do now beep in the 1.1 patch? What about a light?

Spy traps never beep. They only emit a laser beam visible in infrared.
The proxy mines beep, though.

yeah, spy traps dont beep at all, that's why they're so useful. If they beeped then you'd lose the whole point of having them...

Yea, place one in 1.1 and now they do beep. My friend wins. Seriously they beep now it's strange and they didn't say anything about that when i was gonna d/l the patch..... weird.

Hm, I just tried this out, and they do beep.
Maybe just the mercs can hear it? I'll get together with a friend and try if a spy can hear it as well.

Umm, spy traps have always beeped for me in the full verison even in 1.0.
I don't think they did in the demo though.
Spy traps don't have any flashing lights though, and they blend into shadows well. So you still have to use thermals to locate them, the beep just tells you they're nearby, but you can't tell exactly where.

What about laser mines? Do they:
Beeb/Have light/See with thermal
Have light/See with thermal
See with thermal
And of course if you place them in the light the spy can see them anyway. Sure wish the manual had more info on all these cool gadgets.

Laser mines have a flashing light and the mine and beam show on thermal.
They do not beep.
Motion mines do beep (and have a flashing light can glow on thermal).
Thats the main advantage of laser mines, no noise so speis are less likely to know they're there. Disadvantage is they have to go passed it to trigger instead of just near it. There are less good spots for laser mines.

Spy Traps Never Beeped, and Still Don't beep...
Spy Traps, Small Grey Boxes, With laser Beams that go to a wall maybe 10 feet away...
THEY DO BEEP WHEN YOU TRIP THEM....
When a spy trips a spy trap, the spy will hear.. Beep beep beep... For about 5 seconds ish....
Usually he wont know where he tripped it at, and he'll go about his own business anyway...

i just tried it out and they do beep. i swore they didn't beep before the patch so i uninstalled everything and reinstalled, the spy traps beep either way.

I really prefer the laser mines, because there are so many places to hide one so that the spy won't see the light until he's already triggered it. my favorite places are in the warehouse b/c there are so many boxes that people put mines on all the time, but some people wont stop to look if there's no beep, and other spies will blunder into them often. Its really easy to fall off of a high area, go into a roll, and land in front of a laser mine without any way of stopping yourself. Always worth a laugh when it happens though.

I just tried this out, and spy traps do not beep. Are you sure you know the difference between a spy trap and a mine?

the patch made it beep now, i am positive. For those of you who say it doesnt, then you're probably thinking of the default lasers set around the map, they look exactly like spy traps but they do not beep.

ya you only hear them as a merc, and only after they activate.
