This is very frustrating.
On launch of Start Lock On I hear sounds and see nothing. sometimes a splash screen will appear then it crashes to desktop with no errors at all. please tell me there is a quick fix for this. I have an x45 and from the looks of it im going to have to debug that also.
please dont tell me it's my machine. I run aceshigh, IL2, Flight Simulator 2004, CFS3, fa-18 hornet and about six other very intense 3d sim games on this box with no problems at all. enclosed is dxdiag

i have exactly the same problem but what surprises me is that you are in win2000 and the problem you are describing
is only hapening to people with win98.

my friend, looks like we gona have to wait till they fix it wich is a who knows when,

Hmm.

First, Lock On does a pretty intense initialization the first time you run it. You will hear the background "music" and see your desktop for what seems like an eternity, then the screen goes black for another eternity, then the loading screen comes up and then the main menu. On consecutive boots it's a little faster.

So the first advice is to give Lock On LOTS of time during startup before deciding that it has crashed.

The second advice: if it has crashed, HDD inactive for more than a few minutes etc, then just restart your system and reboot Lock On. This is a common fix for Win98/ME troubles but who knows, maybe it'll work for you too.

Other things to consider: Did you have the Lock On demo on your system? Are you sure it was correctly uninstalled?

I admit these are mostly just guesses though, my experience is more with Win98 issues, which you should NOT be having. Most XP and 2000 issues AFAIK are related to the copy protection setting files to "read-only" during install. Look for tips about this in other threads.

Hope this helps,

-SK
