Guys,
I've been curious about the possibility of making shorter track files w/o the use of an external program like FRAPS. It would seem that this feature would be included within the game but I can't figure out how to use certain commands, such as:
Record On or Off the place of cursor in the track
Begin recording subtitle in track, and
End recording subtitle in track.

Excuse if this is a dumb question or its been asked before, but I've seen the "T" Marker on screen when experimenting with a track file and can't figure out how to use. Any ideas? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I have not tried it myself, and what you are talking about is not known for me.

Anyway, I think you can pick your time to start the recording from the AVI Recording options. Set you time and record for as long time as you want(watch and take notice of when to stop the recording).

I'am going to try this myself any time soon. I want to record smaller clips and edit/combine them later.

Record On or Off the place of cursor in the track: records the positions of the windows pointer (usually the mouse)

Begin/End recording subtitle in track: determines the time when a text subtitle appears in the track. The subtitles are read from text files located in a folder with the same name as the track.

As far as I know, you can't create several portions of a track using the game itself. You can shorten a track in video edit mode by pressing Esc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys,
I appreciate the input. Looks like I'll have to use the AVI method and keep track of the mission timer. It would be great to have the ability to record shorter tracks by identifying the start and stop times of re-recorded segmnents of the original track. Oh well, something to hope for in a future patch. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I recorded the tracks, watched them w/the frame rate counter on and took note of the times of the clips I wanted. Then I rendered them w/the AVI tool according to the times that I noted previously. Worked like a charm.

I looked into this method of timing the sequence and only rendering that portion. Worked as advertised. Still I could not bring myself to make an entire 100 plus clip movie from it. However, it will find its way into my movies on a limited basis. I like to filter my final output to make it look more realistic so a 1024 X 768 4AA & 4AF capture serves that function very well enmasse. Good find and thanks for sharing info. S!
