Hi
Have finally ended the game, thanks to some help from you guys. Much appreciated!

One question though to you experienced URU folks:
In the Teledahn control room it is actually possible to jump up on the mushroom by the barrier. see picture
http://w1.877.telia.com/~u87725372/pics/mushroom.jpg
I have tried (in vain) to jump to the big tube (1 in the picture) but also over the tube to area 2 in the picture in order to explore what is behind the fan.
Should this be possible or is the "mushroom jump" a bug in the program?

Could be interesting to know before I move on to the expansion pack.

Thanks in advance for any comments

I know we used to be able to use it as a sort of springboard to jump into the area below. I'm just not sure if that is still possible.

Be warned, though - once you jump there, you have to use your Relto to get out. It's a dead end. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have vague memories that in the early beta one had to access that area to collect something (?) or kinda switch was there (?). You can still jump to there, but as whitch2 said, you have to use your Relto book to get out.

I believe at one point, for a short while, there was a journey cloth down there - but you still had to Relto out.

LOL....I remember poking around in that pit for HOURS ! I started out so proud of myself for finding that journey cloth without much problem, then tearing my hair out figuring I was missing something because I couldn't get back out! ARGHHHH!!!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

Thanks Whitch2 for your comments.
That's where I think the Cyan people went wrong when they created URU. Too many dead ends where you have to use the Relto book in order to "get out". Fo instance the big room with all the books about the D'ni history, I still haven't figured out an "orderly" way to get out from there.
IMHO it should be possible to explore everything in an age whitout the risk of getting stuck. This used to be the case in all the three previous games.

Anyhow I will continue to try jumping off the mushroom since you indicated that it might be possible. I'm curious as to what's behind the fan.

I don't think it was a case of Cyan 'going wrong' - afterall, they ended up not using that pit for the journey cloth. I think it was more a trial period, to see what the response would be to that location. It was during beta, so everything wasn't written in stone at that point.

Another point to consider, Uru was originally meant to be an ongoing adventure, not a stand alone game with Xpacks. I think the dead ends that we do encounter were not intended to remain dead ends as the story progressed.

Just my opinion....

(P.S. - I'd feel like a real jerk if I didn't tell you that even if you do get over the railing and into the pit....you can't access the fan. At least I'm not aware of any way to get to it. ) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yeah, there were quite a few areas I bet they were planning on opening up. Like that recessed doorway beyond the heek table. And those 3 numbered doors on the walkway to the Nexus room. I bet those Teledahn telescopes were gonna be used as part of a puzzle. Lots of telescopes don't seem to make much sense as they are now. Many don't even move, or look at redundant areas. The only scopes that serve a purpose are the Teledahn gun, Teledahn sun, & the Hood telescope that looks at the City (well, it used to be neat to look through).

I remember (during Beta) spending one or two hours in that pit trying to find the journey cloth which had just been moved (arrgh!). I ended up walking though a "tunnel" which led me to the back of the elevator in that room; and from there I just couldn't move.

Later, I found out I had been walking through the floor.
