Hi all/Mr Grasso,
First up i want you to know that this is an rare honor, and i just have to ask somthing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Im part of a group that plays RvS to the higest tactical realism that we can achive over the internet. Not that we use real live tactics, but we discus problems (Were all on microphones) and try to carry them out to the best we can, and most inportant of all, are having loads of fun with it.
But i was wondering, say if me and my friends went for a real life training exsercise, how well would we do compaired to someone who hasnt played the game?? I did notice that i absolutly owned my colleges at lazergames and paint-ball, is that becouse of (tactical)games??
And last, ive read stories about soldiers using video games to practice, how far is this from the truth???
Thank you for your time and once again, it was an honor.
Greetings

First off, thanks for all the support!
To answer your questions, two parts....
First - The game would prepare your mind, not your body.
Unless a mouse and keyboard is standard loadout!
Second - To think Tactical is to think logical, the more you play the more you train yourself to have your thoughts "flow" logically, the more you do that, the quicker you can react...

Hi Mr Grasso,
thankx for the great reply...
Well, shure you cant simulate the feeling or your reaction to "real" combat, but it does get my blood rushing somtimes...
"To think Tactical is to think logical" that is so true... very nice words.
Thankx again,

I have seen games of this nature promote both hand eye coordination as well as improvement upon reflexes.
Try a paint ball mach after logging a few thousand hrs in multiplayer.
Or go to a firing range and engage multiple targets.
There is something to it. For the skeptics out there, History channel airs a nice program called Modern Marvels. there is an episode on firing ranges. There is a big focus on modern ranges created by pixels rather than cardboard.
Once we cross the threshold of VR for the home user, you will see a whole new ere in digital training.

I found that RvS prepares you mentally (i.e the innovative pre mission preps) but if you really want to get ready join a paintball or BB gun team (well they have them in the UK , im not sure about USA) ANyway you either have a straight out TDM or a CTF but sometimes the play Hostage missions. in which team A is in a fort which a hostage(usually a life like dummy with the the weight of an average male) and team B must infiltrate and not me heard. Before team B begin they are given 30 mins to put together a plan. I've done this as both teams and i found that team B had the harder part (obviously) but the planning was fun. You see 30 mins is a short time but it me ans no fussing or joking about just like in real life. these two games aslo have an added bonus of hurting if they hit you /i/smilies/16x16_robot-wink.gif . Anyway I hope that helped and mayber we shall meet in some Special Forces unit. You never know ............
There is love in guns. The love for the gun, the love for its brilliance, the love to get its job done. Next time you see a gun think of this before you call it a piece of metal. This creature has the power to save you /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif

I have played paintball for a while now and have gamed for a much longer time and came to the conclusion that as Mr. Grasso said it only gives prepares you mentally.
Me and my friends went in our first game (my second) and was pounded repeatly by paint. We tried to have our "bravo element" go around and take them out, but even with all the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, bravo element was taken out. This was in the woods so (here in Illionis's Challenge Park) the small town in the area was where we hoped to shine. We pre-planned and figured out we should shoot the windows and have a 2 guys crouched by the window and one at the door. Once Bravo pinned the guys down through the window, we moved and took out 6 guys with a one guy hit from sniper fire before assualt.
All the games I played only game me stragety, and left me in the open my first time. Trying to Rambo it. So all games do is give you some strats and you learn to use stealth and surprise, with out flashbangs...

yes i agree me and my friend even had hand signals. have never used them. the only tactical thing we do is cover each other when we run over an open area.
we're supposed play somthing like capture-the-flag.
you just have little poles where you ram somethime in it and your team gets a point. we just run around shooting.
in this job if you have to say "oops" it's to late.
