Hi. I need help with domes. I have numbers till 25. I stop them, open first shell, I can see books. But if I put number code, nothing happening. I try from up to down and opposite, and nothing. What I have to do? Did I miss something? Is something more, what I have to do?

Double check the code you got from Gehn's journal, just to be sure.

ummmm...double check your D'ni numbers? Those are the first 2 things that come to mind. The code changes with each new game, so we can't tell you what it is. Maybe you could tell us what numers you have for the code and describe the D'ni symbols you have for each number.

Have you restarted the game at all between the time you read Gehn's journal and the time you started trying to open the domes? If you did, the code will have changed, so you'll have to go back and get the code from Gehn's journal again.

By "restarted" Princess means start a new game from the beginning.

Also, make sure you are counting the marks for the slides very carefully. If you are off by one mark things won't work.

12: part of ring on left side in cube plus part of ring down on cube
20: from half left to half down one line and from half down to right half line
22: from half left to half down one line and from half down to right half line plus part of ring on left side
24: from half left to half down one line and from half down to right half line and plus from down in midddle line allmost up and then right.

I think I understand your descriptions -- let me double check to be sure:

2 = half ring on left side

12 = half ring on left side and half ring on bottom

20 = square in upper right-hand corner

22 = half ring on left side and square in upper right-hand corner

24 = square in upper right-hand corner and another square in lower right hand corner (they overlap)

Is that what you have?

The way I read the description I get this:

http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/vdghost.gif

vdghost: your error is in your interpretation of this: http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/15.gif

When http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/01.gif ‚ = 1 and‚ http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/05.gif ‚ = 5 (or 1x5)

and

when http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/02.gif ‚ = 2 and‚ http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/10.gif ‚ = 10 (or 2x5)

then

when http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/03.gif = 3 ... what is‚ http://homepage.mac.com/dansound/.Pictures/MRED/DniNumbers/15.gif ‚ ?

I'm sure you'll get it now. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ah . you're on your way to solve the hardest puzzle ... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif‚ Many, many clues to combine.

Hmm ... it's no fun if I give you straight directions, ;D

Just this much:‚ Gehn can't write proper, working linking books. Of course he won't admit it - he blames it on the inferior raw materials he finds on Riven. But he's found a method to make the books work anyway - by placing them into a strong power field. Those pedestals you see the books lying on‚ look like they can provide this field - but the central power source seems to be off.

Your task is to find this source and to figure out how to turn it on.

I suggest you begin by reading Gehn's journal in his lab again (the one you got the code from). It has some descriptions and drawings that may help you get started.

Danny, great pictures! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

vdghost, the domes need to be powered. So your next step is probably to figure out how to do that.

Hello. Thanks everybodz. I play allready MYST AND EXILE. But RIVEN is very hard. But all game is about detail. With numbers I forget this. I want to be fast and I was wrong. I have to give speed down and look details. First important lesson in this game. After spending months with this game I forget his lesson. So I go check again Journal and after I let you know, how is continue my game. Thanks for remember me first lesson.

You're right about that -- Riven is much harder than Myst or Exile! I'm glad you're having fun, though, among all the frustration http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well, pull the lever, then push the button, near where you have been positioning the marbles :)

vdghost
03-03-2004, 04:53 PM
OK. Still nothing, so I thing I have wrong position of color balls. Only one more question. I have to place it all in same time or I can go one by one?

PrincessXenobia
03-03-2004, 06:24 PM
Actually, I'm pretty sure you have to place them in one by one since you can only pick up one marble at a time. Once they're all in then pull the lever and press the button.

I don't understand how you are decifering those symbols into numbers. I also have figured everything else out except the dome codes and the telescope code. Any other hints on either?

It sounds like you may have missed a stop on the sub -- you can learn your D'ni numbers if you go to school....

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was already at the school house. Unfortunately, I thought it was a place of worship and the symbols on the wall were letters, not numbers. So thank you for the assistance.
