Throw me a GD bone for the boat level!!

C'mon, Ubisoft! Throw us lame gamers a bone for the boat level trying to kill crowe! I'm trying this now on the EASIEST level!! For the love of God someone give me a cheat to bypass this level!

I've tried all of the tips (running around mast, swimming to land, setting up Hummer near land) and I still suck with my aim (I will never be good at fps games) and cannot kill Crowe or chase away the chopper!

Once again, I need serious help with the boat level? Can you please help me, Xinterface? I am unable to survive the attack by Crowe in the helicopter. I have tried all the "tricks" posted on this website (at least the tricks I could find doing searches).

What can you do to help me, Xinterface?

the easiest way is to run to the front of the boat at first to avoid the explosion, and once crowe approaches run back to the control room. Hid in it and then lean out the doors and fire a rocket at him. I don't know what else to say.

What ended up working for me was swimming over to the tree w/ bushes, hiding like a scared little b**** and taking pot shots when I could. You could launch the game in what is 'Developer Mode' by adding &lt;space&gt;DEVMODE to the shortcut launch icon properties target line.

Right click on your Farcry shortcut, then Properties, then in the box called Target, add a space then type DEVMODE, apply, ok & exit.

Should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -DEVMODE

Then launch Farcry using the shortcut icon. I.e. Exit from the splash box that appears when you insert your Farcry CD ... then double click on the Farcry shortcut icon.

Once in the game at the point you get stuck press the F2 key ... that should take you to the next checkpoint.

If it does not, drop down the console with the ` key (above Tab & below Esc) & type:

\map &lt;levelname&gt; (without the &lt; &gt; & where levelname is the name of the level you want to go to.

I believe Catacombs is after boat ... in fact the level list is as follows:

Yeah that part sucks big time. The ony way that I was able to do it was to run to the front of the boat with the rocket launcher and then duck around the mast until he starts to settle down and then let him have it. I actually ended up finishing him off with the M-16. It was tough and with the boat sinking it didn't make it easy.

ugh...the next levels sound tough!

I'm not sure what course of action to take...I will keep reloading and trying all the tips many times (~10x/tip seems to be my limit) at the moment!

pardon my ignorance but is this part of the game even MORE difficult in Veteran and Realistic settings? What are the differences (if any)? just curious...

I too tried all the "tricks" but with no success. This is how I got past this level. After I planted the bomb I ran to the other end of the ship and waited until it detonated. Then I ran back up to the control room where I picked up the rocket launcher and other stuff. I then aimed the rocket launcher out of the window and waited for the helicopter to come into view and then let him have it. The window in the control room appears to be glass but I was able to shoot out of it. This also provided great cover. I don't know if it is a glitch in the game or just on my system or what. Hope this helps. Make sure 8 rocket shots hit the helicopter.

I struggled with it for about 20-30 reloads.
In the end I jumped of the back of the boat, headed to shore and hid around the little fishing boat marooned. From their you can duck down and hide behind the boat and the helocopted needs to come right around to get you at which point you just run around the other side of the little boat and start again launching rockets at it (and anything else you can throw at it!!)

Try driving the jeep off the cliff. When I tried it it stayed upright. Plant the bomb and swim to shore. Get in jeep and wait for Crow. I used the rockets(or whatever they are...type x) in the jeep and he was history in short order. This is one of the toughest parts until you know how.

I planted the bomb and ran back into the cabin (the place where they steer the boad, I'm not a sailor) and used the rocket launcher through the window. Crow is a bit frustrating, but it's not that bad. Wait until you get to the volcano level!

Yeah, I tried the hummer on the shore trick! I almost made it but the problem is when the bomb on the ship detonates my vest armor is wiped out I lose ~25% health. Is this what other people see happen?

The tip about staying in the freighter cabin sounds good! It should allow me to dodge Crowe's fire more effectively...i hope!

I beat the chopper right from the front of the boat. I just kept moving around the pillars and things.

yeah, tried that! I think that is the most recommended tactic from what I've seen in this forum. Problem is my twitch-factor is so bad it doesn't register on your scale! ha ha

I progressed to this point with relative ease but am getting fairly frustrated with this level. I know I've reloaded 40 times by now. I wish that the speedboat I brought over from the other side wouldn't disappear when the bomb detonates! I'm determined to beat it but this isn't fun anymore, just downright grueling. I've even tried hitting Crowe with the freakin sniper rifle when the chopper first comes in to sight.

BTW, when I go back to the cabin, the health, armor, and rockets are no longer there. Someone recommended going back there and picking up rockets. Are they still there for you after detonation?

Also, if the ship sinks and you haven't taken that b*tch out yet, is there any hope at all?

If you don't want to use the 'swim to shore' technique ....

After planting the bomb, run to the front of the ship. Once bomb blows run up to the cabin. Stay there until Crow flies into view. Use the aquired rockets to shoot Crow. Aim at the nose of the copter, so the rocket actually hits the centre. Keep strafing in & out or lean out to shoot, then back in the cabin again. If you don't manage to scareCrow (get it? Scare Crow! Lol ;-)) off b4 the ship is under water ... go outside the cabin & up a flight of (outdoor) stairs, so you end up on top of the cabin, where you can dodge behind the mast to finish the job.

If at first you don't succeed ... try try again ! And again ... and again!

I feel your pain! I think I've gone through this level ~50x! argh!! ha ha At the moment I'm taking a break but intend to give the tips a serious try this weekend!

Have you also tried the Hummer onto the beach approach? I want to try Audioslims idea of swimming over to the wrecked fishing boat or the recommendation to stay in the Freighter cabin.

Post your efforts here! I would like to know what you are trying out on this level!

at the boat when it startes to detonate jup into water as soon as u place it and swim to the little siland and hide in the bushes use the sniper rifel and jsut shoot the chopper as many times i used about 20 ammo of sniper and 1 rocket

The hummer approach worked really well for me. Ditch the hummer on that little beach, then swim to boat, plant the bomb on a full run across the deck heading for the beach. If you do it right, you can have almost no damage.

The hummer rockets fire faster then the handheld ones, too. As well as the hummer takes a lot of the damage you would. I just sat in it and fired away.

I got lucky and the second shot went right in the cabin of the helicopter and Crowe retreated.

As posted elsewhere. Swim to shore where the bushes are. As asked earlier you will loose some armor. Lay in the bushes and shoot, Crow will not see you. Just keep shooting, you will run low on ammo but it will do the trick. Caution if you stand up he will see you and return fire. If you shoot rockets he will see you and return fire.

Lay low and use the rifle and Crow will not return fire.

It is really very easy, and I'm not kidding one bit. When you plant the
explosive, jump off the back of the boat, and swim for the two palm trees.
When you get there, get a few feet behind the 1st tree ( tree to right of
screen ) and use rocket launcher. Center the heli on the trunk of the
tree and circle back and forth so you never see the door gunner. That
is easy to do. Fire rockets towards the bottom of the heli every time
the heli starts forward and is low. Takes about 8 rockets, so keep
the gun loaded, but watch the centering of the heli on the tree trunk
carefully. It is really very easy to do.

Dude, just bring the jeep down where that little recked small boat is. its a slope in the corner where u can drive it down. Plant the bomb, swim back out to the jeep, get in, press &lt;SHIFT&gt; to control the gun in the jeep, change the ammo type to (rockets), and easily take em down.

yeah, good point! i've been jumping off the back of the boat and then when the bomb detonates I take massive damage. I'll try running to front of ship before hitting the surf and swimming to shore!

I took some loss when the copter was directly overhead, but I just kept wailing at the door. Not long before she spouts flames and flies away. It really isn't hard.

I found that level pretty challenging as well. I've tried to take Crowe on from inside the ships cabin to no avail because I found it hard to get a good shot on the chopper. What I found did work was taking cover near the cargo containers on the main deck of the ship. I was able to run around the boxes as needed and able to hit the chopper from many directions. The real key here is being good with the rocket launcher. You need to lead the chopper slightly. Study the movements of the chopper. It is a bit predictable at times and many times is idle in the air when changing directions... Keep practicing ! good luck

It is possible to swim ashore without getting hurt. You just need to start facing in the right direction (towards the beach with the palm trees), as far away as possible from the place where you plant the explosive. (Walk until the directions disappear, then back up a little.) Hit Use, sprint to the edge of the ship and jump. If you do everything right, you still have a second left when you hit dry land.

Combine with Humvee to take out Crow. I had success shooting a while with the machine gun, keeping the crosshair red, then finishing him off with a couple of rockets. Lost nearly all armor, but no health.

Some interesting techniques! I finally got comfortable with the simple method. Load up, plant bomb, walk to an area near the stairs by the stern of the ship. Its an area you can practice finding. A place where you don't take damage, being as close as you can be to the bow. Once it blows, having a full blue bar, RUN to the top of the ship by the mast. You can make it before Crowe can shoot. Then its just mouse and strafing buttons. Keep the mast between you and the chopper's door. Shooting the rocket correctly took practice. You really need to lead the chopper forwards and backwards. To practice, I didn't fire, just evaded. Crowe yelled "Your good"

after you run to the front of the boat jump in the water and swim to the rocks off to the side of the boat. One of the rock piles has a little spot you can hide under and shoot at him all you want. Good luck!
