Ghost Recon is annoying me!

I have an Xbox.
I just bought Island Thunder, because I LOVED the first one. But a couple of problems from the first one made it into the second one.

For some reason when I need to use the M136, as I pull the trigger to fire it, the game freezes. It happens about 75% of the time. The original it happend about 40% of the time.

Its super annoying because I have to restart the game.
And when I restart the game, my xbox can't read the game. So I have to start and unstart 4-5 times before my xbox reads the damn thing.

It's getting annoying! The game disk is PERFECT, Not a scratch or piece of dirt.

run a laser cleaner, i have not heard of that problem on the first one.

Happends to me man. No its not the lens so dont bother. I is the code inside of the actual game. Mine is even worse. After every online match i have to restart my xbox. When the match is over, my xbox goes to a black screen and sits there forever. UBI we need a patch.

A patch... I don't know if that will help. I've posted before with this problem... and it really isn't fun, especially since it isn't just GR, it's also MechAssault, Sega GT, JSRF, Turok: Evolution, Shenmu II, etc. I think that it is actually the system.. In fact I'm headed over to MS's XBox website now, to find out what's the deal. I'll update you if I find anything.

I have never had any problems with my X-box!!!
and i never had any problems with GR or GRIT
oh yeah!

does any your X-boxs run burned music CDS??
because my reads them but all my friends X-box's dont?!

ANY WAY i have had 0 problems with GR or any Ubi Soft game.

I think Ubi soft deserves better treatment than there getting.
because they made GR in the first place!!

How long ago did you all buy your x-box? Was it before the driver updates? But I have to laugh i had my ps2 almost 2 years without a single problem yet.

the EXACT same thing happens to me and it'd tickin me off. i cant complete the second mission cuz i have to fire the M136, and it always freezes. i think i've fired it 2 out of 50 times and it didnt freeze. and it ALWAYS freezes when i play online. while it loads the after action, i get a black screen and then it freezes. it also freeezes when im in the lobby. i never get to play for more than 1.5 hours at a time because it ALWAYS freezes. it freezes every single time i play online. not once has it not froze. my disc is brand new and my laser its fine. the original does this like 1 out of 100 times, but i dont know whats up with GRIT!

My X-Box has never frozen on ANY of the Ghost Recon titles but on the game Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, it occasionly freezes when I try to do too many things at once. As for my other titles, no freezes here!

i got my xbox the day it came out (november 15) and it always freeezes.

Your DVD drive is touchy and will probably fail soon. I had the same problem with my launch Xbox, it had a hard time reading some DVDs and games. Finally it stopped working altogether. I cleaned the lens, mirrors, and adjusted the pot and now it works, but still flakey with some games. While it was broken I went out and got another Xbox and it works great, no more dirty disc errors and lock-ups.

I had this problem, too, and it was because we have a first generation Xbox. It was all a big deal last summer and I'm sure you can still find some heated discussions in the Xbox forums on xbox.com.

It was one of those things that all of a sudden all these users started reporting the same problems, one of them being the hanging M136 in Ghost Recon. Microsoft sent us to complain at UBI Soft and UBI Soft sent us back to Microsoft. I think it was finally the users that, after having tried their games on other systems and doing some research, forced Microsoft to admit that it was their problem.

Anyway, if I remember correctly, the XBOX had some sort of DVD for the first few months and then they changed over to a different one. If you look at the tech support forum for XBOX.com you should find a ton of people returning their xboxes because of the DDE (dirty disc error) fiasco.

I had to return mine twice before it stopped crashing in this game (and others).

The only problem I still have is when you use any explosive weapon (the M136 or any grenades) the sound then sounds muffled like it's underwater and doesn't clear itself until another load noise occurs. I can live with that one (although I'm not happy about it).

I used M136 once only and it was fine. But when I use grenades, the game/XBox freezes up at once. When it happens, I can hear a small repeating clicking noise from the DVD drive. Since all my other games play just fine, so I don't believe I've a dirty laser head problem.

The sad thing is that my XBox is already out of warranty, so I shuldn't expect MS to do an exchange.

So what do you guys having this problem do???

the muffle soud is the gamers ear drums being tormented on perpose. it adds to realism. gunshots do it too.

Your best bet is to go to the store and exchange for another copy. I had that problem before, not with GR but with another game and I thought the same that thing that you thought, "how is possible with a brand new game?" Well I was wrong, even new games have there problems. What I did was that I just went to the store and exchanged for a brand new copy and... it work!
Try it if you just bought it.
It will work!
