FAR CRY CHEATS.....HOW ARE THEY APPLIED?

I would GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP with this. To cut to the chase, I have Far Cry installed with the patch (1.1) and the game runs PERFECTLY
even with my 866mhz,Pentium 3,98SE machine. I have gone to the numerous web-sites and have seen all of the cheats that are available so far. I am not sure of the EXACT procedure for APPLYING the cheat codes although I am PRETTY SURE I'm doing it properly. When I hit the ~ key, the screen comes up ,I enter the proper info and at THAT point I hit ENTER,the cheat code will THEN come on the lower left part of the screen in small letters and THEN disappear indicating (I guess) that it has been accepted. At this point the ONLY way that I can see of making the screen "normal" again is by hitting the ~ again. At THIS point I just don't see the cheats working:all weapons,999 ammo etc. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG????????????? Solving this will help me with other games as well. Also ,what is "GOD MODE"? THANKS FOR ALL HELP ON THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why cheat? If it's SP cheats you want, why spend so much money on a game and then instantly cheat at it? Complete waste of time.

If it's MP cheats you are after then you deserve to banned.

Anyway... no need to shout... enable dev mode by going

*start menu -> run -> '(Your far cry exe goes here)' -devmode*

(No *'s though!)

Then try your cheats.

In case happynoodle_boy's post isn't clear, you can get Far Cry running in devmode by doing the following:

1) Right-click on the icon you use to launch FC and select "Properties"
2) In the "Target" field, add the string "-devmode" *outside the quotes. Mine looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -devmode

3) double-click the icon to start the game.

If you did this right, you should be able to start at any level of the game. I'm not sure if the cheats you are trying to use require you to run the game in devmode, but that's how you do it.

When I enter -DEVMODE after the quotes I get a message saying that "is not a valid name" I'm not doing SOMETHING OR doing something wrong. Does something have to be put in the console after pushing the ~ key? If you could give the entire procedure step by step that would probably help.

Just dont understand it. On one of the links I add 2 files to the main folder,one REPLACES the dev mode file. The target address is also changed(after exe"-devmode) I still cant seem to make them work. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I appreciate the help but certain steps seem to be left out from different replies. I wonder if someone could give each individual step starting from the VERY FIRST change. This game is running perfectly so I must be doing something wrong in the process of adding the cheats. One of the steps that I am following is either out of sequence or just wrong. If someone is kind enough to detail this for me, I'm sure you will also help quite a few people. Thanks for all the replies.

No offense...but are u 1 of those console gamers??? lol...the thing u pull down with the ~ is called a console and WHAT is up with the CAPS every now AND THEN!??? Dude. It is .exe"(SPACE!!!!)-DEVMODE ... .exe" -DEVMOD make sure its all caps
and there is a space after the quotes

and well, it works pretty good: all cheats work, EXCEPT for god mode...
when i turn on god mode, the screen says "GOD 0". but i'm def. not in god mode.

If you are seeing "GOD MODE 0" on the screen in the top left corner in green letters then it IS working. Everytime you get "killed" it will advance 1 digit BUT you won't be "dead"
Each time you "die" it will advance 1 digit.

Also, -devmode only works for the single player game. These cheats will either not let you online at all, or get you kicked from servers running punkbuster.

Which command do I put in devmode lua, and where do you out it? I wrote in -DEVMODE after exe in the shortcut already. Since it's there, do I start game, then use console and type in a command, or what am I missing? I want these for single player, I wouldn't cheat online for any reason.

Go to the link I provided. Copy and past the entire piece of code into your devmode.lua file at the end of the file. When you are in the game the backspace key will toggle godmode.

I overwrote the devlua file with what he said to, -DEVMODE is on properties target line, tried to enable god mode with #godmode(). Still notyjing works. Why do some get it to work and other not? What to do now?

Tried god_mode_count=1 also, doesn't work. Tried hitting tilde then tab to cycle,doesn't work. Why do they make a game that's so hard to enable cheats when they have them to enable? And how do some get things to work when other can't?
