For anyone that did not know this, the next-gen cards are being showcased somewhere out in California on this day. Actually, it's a giant LAN party where everyone plays Battlefield Vietnam and Unreal Tournament 2004 with the new cards.
As for the NV40 and beyond: supposedly with JUST beta drivers, the performance (fill rate, texels/sec, AA samples etc) should be 2.0-4.0 times FASTER than the current FX 5950. Expect at least 2.0 but don't be surprised to see 4.0 in the future with just driver updates.
As for ATi, I'm not sure when they release the R420 or R423 but it's speed is estimated at 2.0 times faster than the Radeon 9800 Pro. Maybe they've made some improvements since that information is posted, but as for now, nVidia's info is current and will be shown on Tuesday in real-world game demonstration.

I will post a link to the Beta test when I retrieve it later today. Unless someone already knows where that article is.

Don't hold your breath. I still say it's maybe 1.3x faster. Let's just hope I'm wrong http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Please keep us posted.
I'm interested in knowing some real-life performance on the new cards. I'm looking to upgrade from my Ti4600 and would like to stick with Nvidia since I have so good experience with them http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, 2-4 are very broad, essentially meaningless numbers. But we'll see guys. I'm just passing info on to the forum in case anyone wants a heads up. Tuesday evening or next Wednesday we should be seeing some articles all over the place if the NV40 was 2 or 4 times faster. IT WILL BE EVERYWHERE IF THIS IS TRUE. You wouldn't be able to wake up in the morning, go to work and come home without being bombarded by every news organization in the country that the NV40 really performs insanely.
Personally, I like ATi's image quality a little better (note little) and do use ATi cards. But you know, whatever is the best value, I'd go for it. In the end, if it renders a game or scene correctly, then I'm game to use it!

I highly doubt that it will be 4x faster, that is just insane. I think that is just some rumor by some employee. 2x faster is still a huge improvement...if that is true.

that isnt what ive heard. your making it sound like the new ati will destroy the new nvidia lol. i have been hearing that the new nvidia will have a slight edge. but if the ati does perform better it wont by much.

The only way for new costumers, the hard core ones to by new video cards is for there to be an sizeable increase in speed. I suspected the new cards won't disappoint they will be the cards that farcry will really run nicely on
ati,nvidia,ati,nvidia who gives a ****

Right now I think most if not all we hear about these unreleased cards are just rumours and speculation.
If someone have heard that the NV40 will beat the R420 then ofcourse someone else has heard the opposite http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I'll wait and see for myself when I get to see the cards perform and disregard all I hear about these cards untill they are released.

yeah thats a good point. we need marks while running CoD, splinter cell 2, UT2k4, and farcry. and which ever scores better is the fastest card. of course the one who can use AA and AF with best frames is the one ill buy. i want the best performance with all the options on, and at highest resolution.
