This is just the demo 1 AND 2 I'm trying, to see how it performs, because it should have no problem. But it crashes about 3% into the loading process every single time on both demos. I tried Very High settings, I tried Low settings and 640x480. Same crash every time. It's a hard crash as my monitor suspends and I can't Crtl alt del or anything, I have to hit reset.
Thiefhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifS and UT2K4 run flawlessly for long periods. It's not a heat issue as I have a Thermalright SLK-948U, all fans set up. DirectX 9.0b installed. Catalyst 4.4 drivers.
everything brand new, fresh installed
Athlon 64 3200+
Radeon 9800 Pro
1 gig of ram
Audigy 2
Seagate Barracuda 160 gig
fresh installed WinXP
the log file errors may be relevant:
Compile System Shader 'TemplVFog'...Fail.
Compile System Shader 'TemplFog_FP'...ok
Compile System Shader 'TemplFogCaustics'...ok
Compile System Shader 'TemplVFogCaustics'...Fail.
Compile System Shader 'TemplFogCaustics_FP'...ok

Is this the 64 bit Far Cry as advertised by AMD?

No, it's just the demos that you can download. My PC parts are OEM so I didn't get the AMD 64 packin.

That's not even out yet--go to AMD's website and you can register (for free) to be notified when it will be available for (free) download.

vilgilante im having the exact same problem as you are.and i cant figure out why.but my system souldnt be doing this at all.heres my rig AMD 64bit 2800+ overclocked to 3000+ ,ASUS K8V Deluxe mobo,128 mb ATi Radeon 9800 Pro overclocked to XT speeds,512 mb of Ultra 3200 OC memory.about 6 case fans + 1 dual fan under AGP card.so cooiling is definately not the issue ,and i have all the latest drivers like Ati 4.5 for catalyst,Win XP SP1 ,Direct X 9.0b

Try not overclocking your vid card, and make sure AA is disabled in the ingame vid settings, as well in the video card settings. Your best bet is to leave the vid card settings at their default.

I'll make it clear also that I'm not overclocking anything and AA is off. I did a reinstall of the two day old drivers and demo, of course nothing changed.

Hi all,
This error relates to this post
TRY THIS FIRST (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=170106891&m=540106254)
If that fails uninstall the demo.
RE download the demo.
Delete your 4.4 cats. and 4.5 cats.
Install 4.5 BETA drivers from Guru3d.
Install drivers.
Disable AA/AF.
Install Far cry.
Try the above and post back.
Good Luck.

Thanks, those drivers seem to work for whatever reason. Also, surprisingly my Thief 3 graphics aren't hosed which is what seems to happen to everyone who uses the 4.5's. That's why I stayed away to begin with. I still don't understand why the 4.4's don't work but I guess I won't complain.

I personally think the FarCry demo wasn't all that great. I actually bought the game and this game can freak you out. There's a lot of disturbing places in the game. Reminds me of some screenshots/videos I've seen from Doom 3!
