View Full Version : What's best weapon for dealing with Trigens?

I've just got past the Treehouse level and found it a bit of a struggle using the basic machine gun. Maybe I've failed to pick up a better gun somewhere.

Anyway 30 rounds is only enough to really deal with one of these b*stards. I usually end up having a spastic, using a full clip with grenades, only for his mate to spring out and flame me while I'm reloading. W*nker!!

Taking them out with head shots helps but that's easier said than done.

headshots!

monkey trigens: shotgun, mp4, (not smg) 2-3 to head

jumpy/invisible trigens: mp4,assaults (name?) to head

giant rocket trigens: shotgun to head (alot)
couple clips mp4/assault

grenades are effective for monkeys, jumpy (if not jumping) (1 works in right place)

only sometimes against giant ones. i've had them work and not work on them (spose it's a health level thing)

the assault gun launched grenades aren't as effective against them for some reason (IMO)

these are my findings so far (just an impression, not facts), im dealing with them on last part of catacombs. i don't like the monsters much.

like some other elements i found, i wonder if they are not consistently 'tough' in every level.

Bananas?

No really, I like to have another weapon at the ready, fully loaded, and when one automatic runs out, I toggle down the mouse and WHAM! take those lil' b-stards out.

And if all fails - fool yourself into thinking that a machete and a handful of rocks will frighten them off.

If you choose the knife wielding maniac approach, close your eyes when they're close enough to smell their breath - 'cause it ain't gonna be pretty...

The p90 has 50 rounds and pushes them back a little. I'm rather fond of the Jackhammer shotgun also.....

When do you get the shotgun then?

You need mutant bananas for mutant monkeys.

Umm, I'm not too sure when you get the shotgun. I liked to use the P90 for those monkey trigens - since they have a habit of getting in your face, the P90's 50 rounds means you probably won't have to reload while dodging monkeys.

I think (or is my imagination)

that the big massive trijens, die faster if you shoot them on the chest, to make the green round light they have on the armored plate do some sparks, and the shot them on the head

kinda is a weak spot

maybe is just me... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I really like the P90. It's so precise with very little kick. I also like using the pistol. The MP5 is pretty worthless with Trigens though (doesn't it have the same round as the pistol?).

I've tried the Jackhammer but it just doesn't have the same stopping power for me. Probably because I miss more than I hit. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

I'm with Thera.
I keep the P90 handy untill I get the OICW or SAW. I've tried the Jackhammer a couple of times. Though I only need two shots with it to take out the primates (1st. gen trigens), they usually are within handsreach (their hands btw) before I can let loose the second shot. When constantly hitting them with a automatic you keep them from jumping straight at you.

You're right T.I.E http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Shooting the biguns on the green bit on their chest kills them far quicker than headshots \o/

Shotgun feels like it was designed to kill trigens

i'm not really sure about that, on medium setting it takes 3 headshots with a sniper rifle to kill them, not really sure how many shots to the chest it takes but i'm pretty sure it's more than three

i usually just blast them with the shotgun and they go down without to much trouble

P90, carries 50 rounds in a mag and has a fast reload, excelent when your behind is to the wall and the enemy is going ape all over you. I found the P90 kills them faster than the other guns. Maybe becasue I am spooked out of my whits when they jump out of the wood work at me and I am showering my surroundings w/ bullets. The P90 spews out 50 rounds in a very short time and the mad monkeys get cut down fast.

I don't think the Trigens have good vision. Prone and stay in the dark. Wait for one to come around the corner and shot gun them in the head twice.

yeah I agree with psycold shotgun just feels like it was put on this earth to deal with trigens. if you're close enough to kill the humans with em, you probably took the wrong approach. Trigens want nothing more than to get kissably close.

I find my best technique is to die over and over again, until I manage to kill them, usually using 30+ bullets per trigen with the assault rifle.

*spoiler*-ish - the spawn point before you meet up with val where you flood this giant room with water and then enter a hallway thats got a rocket trigen in it... really really pissed me off. If I didn't die trying to kill the first trigen, or the next two in the small room didnt kill me, the next two did. it took me about 30 tries to get thru this part. I finally got mad and ran by the biggin, which I had tried a lot before, and just used all 5 of my rockets on the 4 bastages left. whatd u guys do

If you keep the rocket trigens so that theres a wall between you just covering their rocket arm on your screen, they usually hit that and not you. Then pound them and repeat. Also for the next two run forward to get their attention, then back off crouching and gunning away. Worked for me.

Weapon?

For the little jumpy bastards, anything will do.

For the big'uns?

Your feet. Run like hell through the entire level when you meet a trigen. If you're lucky you'll lure it into a pack of mercenaries who will tear it to shreds when you bank around a corner, god willing.
