Running Windows 2000 on ASUS A7N8X Deluxe with latest (3.13) Nvidia nForce drivers.
After playing for anywhere from 15-45 minutes, the audio for the dialog and music cuts out. However, the audio for sound effects like footsteps and menu noises remains. I can get the music/dialog to come back by quitting to the main menu and reloading my game.
I have tried enabling and disabling EAX in the game, as well as lowering the hardware acceleration setting for my sound controller. None of it makes a difference.
Looking forward to a patch or something for this game....

Hmmm..that's not a game problem, that is definatly hardware related. It's related to this game, but it isn't affecting anything else, right? The game is doing something your audio chip doesn't like. First off, you definatly need EAX disabled, because that's for Creative cards like the Soundblaster. You've got Nforce audio that is made by Nvidia. What I would suggest, since I haven't heard of this before, is to contact Nvidia and ask them, because that's hardware.
I had a Soundblaster 512 that did what you describe, but it only did it in Battlefield 1942. I couldn't get it to stop, so I upgraded to the card I have now. I sold that card to my neighbor, and guess what, BF1942's sound works perfectly for him! It didn't like something in my hardware config. Just drop them an email and see what's up.

I forgot to mention that the sound gets way out of sync with the video in the cutscenes. You're right that I haven't had problems with any other games. You're wrong about EAX though. EAX 3.0 is only support by Audigy and Extigy, but EAX 1 and 2 are supported by a bunch of audio controllers.
Of course, nvidia won't support the motherboard because it's made by ASUS and ASUS will just tell me to install the older drivers that they released with it. If they do work, that sucks because the newer drivers fix problems with other games. I will try them nevertheless.... I should have just bought this game for a console.

Asus? I have an Asus board, but I use my own sound card. I highly recommend using a seperate card. I thought this game was EAX 3, oh well...It's highly likely that Asus will offer a new driver that will fix this problem in the very near future. I only use the VIA chipset, I've had the least amount of problems with it. All the computers I build have that chipset. I built my roommate a computer, and I popped a KT400 (VIA) board in there, and he has 5.1 audio that is running perfectly. I'm iffy about a video card manufactor making sound cards, but that's just me. I guess when it comes right down to it, I just don't trust the Nforce (or any other nvidia) products, all I've ever had is trouble with them, and that's what I've heard from other ppl too.

The game goes out of synch if fps go under 10Hz.
Try to reduce graphic quality to gain fps.
I.e. : disable flare fx and set water detail to low.

I had the same problem. To fix it go to Control Panel, open up AC3 Filter, I assume you have that there. Under the Main Tab, change Sample format to PCM Float. Under the Mixer Tab, check normalize matrix. Under the System Tab, click Prefer other decoder and change the default audio renderer to Wave Out. That fixed it for me. If it works for you, you're welcome, if not I'm sorry.

I have this issue too on 1.01....only when EAX is on. Is it really related to game speed?
my config's a bit beta ridden so it won't help troubleshoot...
it's got beta APU drivers and SP2 beta on it
I've reported this to NVIDIA already, btw, since i'm obviously on an nforce beta team.

Yeah, I just got addicted to this game, so I played a long way into it last night. I got the dialog bug, but as soon as I re-enabled vsync (don't know how it got turned off...) it was fine.

As far as I know my vsync is on. I'll check again. I haven't done any tweaking to turn it off since I installed this time, certainly.

It's still on Auto, right enough.

Forcing vsync on has resolved this issue for me; set it to "always on".
