I wonder why developers stop supporting Co-op? I don't have a broadband connection, and there is only one person I can play MP with and that is my brother. 1 on 1 MP is most of the time boring. Usually the maps are to big for only 2 people. My brother and I had more fun playing the Co-op missions for NOLF2 then we ever did on any other 1 on 1 battling.

I understand. I have lots of patience and I don't even own the game yet or even have the computer to run it on high settings. A modder will definitely come out with a co-op mod. Many games that deserved co-op single player that did not originally have it were eventually modded.

Yeah, I don't know why developers don't get it. It seems to be a very popular mode (as evidenced by this thread). Games like Hidden & Dangerous did it well, then the sequal comes out and no Co-Op!! Many people did not purchase HD2 because of this, or purchased it and were upset. I am sure there will be co-op for Far Cry, even if it is only through the different mods..

What is up lately with FPS developers not including CoOp mode in thier games? I mean hell even DooM had coop and it was fun as hell playing the maps with someone. The Deathmatch trend is starting to get stale, you can paint pretty pictures of your engine and whatnot but I'm not all that interested in DM, you could argue CTF and TDM are CoOp but at the heart of those playstyles is plain old DM dressed up. We want CoOp in the SP missions.

We should also keep in mind that Crytek might be saving the CO-OP feature for an expansion/add-on.

However, an announcement should still be made so that there is no confusion. I hate being in the dark about something like this, especially since it's possible to implement ourselves if we really wanted to.

However, like I mentioned before, it would most likely be easiest for the developers that WROTE the engine to modify it allowing for Co-op play instead of the community trying to work around clever network traffic algorithms to sync more than one player in a SP mode.

i am also all for co-op. i think the popularity of sven-coop for halflife speaks for itself. this game needs co-op. pretty much every large scale attack in this game has more than one approach. imagine one person finding the highground with the snipe rifle, and the other going in the main way, causing panic while the teammate picks them off one by one.

Coop should be as many as 20 players, Once people start making good maps, we will start to see some large scale 32+sq kilometer maps with much to do. so 4 people might take a while. heck, mabey someone could make a .. *druel* 2000+sq kilometer map, hah.

what kind of freaks are you guys? MP is great, i have 56k and it is laggy, BUT im enjoying it! It just doesn't make any sense, here you have a great AI and yet there's no co-op. Think of the possibilities - like an objective based map with those freaking funktastic apes swarming the player's flagpoint from all angles. Or maybe an interior level where the players are forced to gradually fall back to the last defensible floor in the installation and survive before the time runs out to 'protect the scientists' or something else out of Svencoop. Random scripted events like trigens breaking through walls or the power going out and having to rely on the goggles, maybe periodic reinforcements of mercs.

Hell, something simple like a round based AI sniper hunt in the jungle would be fun. Or how about the 'fort' level in coop where players defend the japanese fort (with the generator at the end of the hallway being the objective) from waves of mercs that are inserted via chopper down at the beach, with frequent artillery barrages. This is just stuff off the top of my head out of svencoop and OFP.

Seems like such wasted potential with only the vanilla mp modes available. Oh well, I'm going to go set myself on fire.

But i must say this i love FPS to death in FFA TDM & all but for some reason Far Cry just don't come close too par for a good FPS game with FFA & TDM alone.....

Coop would be a great addition. With the multiple ways to complete missions as is, doing it with one or two extra people would be great fun. Imagine the first night mission you come to in the SP game with two people. You got a friend sniper on top of the cliff overlooking the complex, while you and a friend go in on foot. The sniper helps clear the minigunners and you can clean up the outer area. A hell of an idea if you ask me.

If I was coding it, I would make it like a arcade game with cooperative play, where you just press a button and you appear right next to the other person playing (with the temporary invincibility you get when you respawn in a multiplayer game). I somehow doubt a feature like this would be possible, but you never know.
