Where's My 5.1 Sound? or even 4.1 or 4.0?

I figured 1.2 was going to fix this, but I get nothing but generic old 2 speaker stereo sound out of Far Cry. My drivers are up to date. My speakers are Logitech z-640's properly connected to 3 analog outputs. I get perfect 5.1 sound from any other sound using program.

Not only did 1.2 NOT FIX IT, but now I set it to 5.1 in the setup and when the game is launched it resets itself to "surround" and the 5.1 option disappears. I still don't get surround or even quadrophonic. Nothing but lame old 2 speaker stereo.

Any ideas?

Sound Card is a C-Media 8738-LX 6 channel card.
