my stupid computer comes up with the same error everytime i try to run raven shield. it always says that i don't have directx 8.1b or higher, but i have installed directx 9.0 from the disc as many times as i've tried to run the program. i have a dell dimension 4300 that has all the system reqs, but for some reason doesn't like directx. i am running windows xp home on it.

PLEASE HELP ME! i want to get a chance to actually play raven shield!

run dxdiag to check your directx files. click on "start" menu and click "run", type dxdiag in the input field and go through all the test cycles.

You can also try downloading DirectX 9.0B from Windows Update.

Or download it directly from here:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/3/c/73cc71c0-13d9-4274-8d9c-33d8a528a396/dxwebsetup.exe

That's directly from Microsoft. DirectX 9.0b.

Perhaps he needs a vid card capable of running DirectX 9? What are your system specs?

I mean if pacman affected us when we were kids, we would all be running around in dark rooms munching on pills and listening to repetitive electronic music!

Your video card is not supported. Minimum requirement is a 32 mb video card. I recommend a 128 Mb card at the least for halfway decent frame rates.

Grow up you immature little ***. If someone comes here and provides direct links, I'm sure as hell grateful. As for yourself you have provided nothing of value on these forums, so take a hike.

Thanks Fritzy,

That's all this forum needs....people just trying to help getting flamed. I'd like to say fook this, I'm not helping anymore but that'd be immature...like his post....so in the future I will still try to help.

Plenty of different types of critical errors, maybe you should be more specific as well as explaining your system specs, processor, video, RAM, sound. Update your drivers for everything you can first, that may be the problem.
