I'm gonna ask my questions in here since they're kinda related to mission building & too because ppl here have less tendancy to criticize and are actually helpful. Ummm... "more mature"... yeah, that's it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Generally, how many missions do you have to fly to complete a campaign in FB? (Sorry, I haven't flewn any. From the moment I got the game, I jumped feet-first into the online arena to join & support my squadmates. Haven't had enough time to enjoy the game in its entirity yet.)

Secondly, there are 8 medals that can be earned in the German campaign. At what levels (points-wise) are each awarded?

Next question... which I asked in the General Forum but got no replies except from jokers (but they meant no harm)... What is the break-down for the points system? I.E. Victory over single-engine fighter = 100 points (if successfully RTB), etc. Need points for air victories and points for ground targets (tanks, trucks, etc.)

Which brings me to my final question.... online, is there no way to distinguish points earned from air victories from those gained from ground kills (as opposed to having them all dumped into one accumulative score)?

Hello, Schatten...

About how medals are given, I really do not know... but for the points, I think it works like this : points are linked to objectives, not to a specific target. I mean, if you put an objective like "destroy plane, 50 %", if you shoot down 50 % of the concerned planes, you will receive points. How much, I do not know... but if the planes you shoozt down are not defined as objectives, I think you get no points.

But maybe I am wrong... and sincerely, I do not think that this the interesting point of the game. What gamers enjoy is not to "make points", but simply to fly those superb planes, and to have a good time !!!

Yes, it is a joy to fly all of the wonderful planes.

Not to be rude, but just try to see my point....

Hmmmm Let's imagine this.... playing football, soccer, baseball, etc. just because it's fun to play.... completely disregard the points. The points don't have anything to do with winning the game.....

Silly isn't it?

I have my reasons for needing to know the points system, etc. .... and trust me... its in the pursuit of what I and a few others consider to be fun. Yes, there IS more than one way to have fun.

Just because you don't care about the point system, doesn't mean that someone else doesn't have a use for knowing that information.

Sorry if I was harsh. I just had to put up with a lot of "it's not important" to a lot of my questions lately. How about, "It's important to me & I know somebody out there knows the answers because it's programmed into the game?"
I swear, you'd think that I'm asking for Oleg's bank account number or something by the way everyone's "avoiding" answering my questions. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

Here's a link for you:
http://www.sturmovik.de/index.php3?open=tut_score_a

It's for Il-2 v.1.04, the scoring was changed afterwards. E. g. now you get 100 points for each engine the aircraft you shot down has. And -300 instead of -400 for shooting down friendly.

In regards to medals, Starshoy replied to a post I made and listed some partial criterion for their award.

http://forum.justflight.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3574

Apparently some medals are given according to the length of time in a campaign, at least for American campaign in BoE anyway. I am not certain if German medals follow the same system or not.

Points for targets/objectives:

This is a little tricky as points vary by importance and size of the object. Take all of this with a grain of salt. Maybe a bag of salt!

Train cars are worth 30 points each

Cars/trucks are worth 25 points each

Static aircraft are worth 20 points each (maybe worth more depending on the size of the plane too)

Aircraft are worth 100 points/engine except for the He-111Z which is worth 200 points. Gliders are worth???

Tanks: it varies depending on tank, Tigers are worth 55 I think, smaller tanks worth less down to 30 points for the small ones?

AAA can be worth 30 or 60 depending on size

Ships vary from 100 to 700 (I think) depending on size

Mission objectives are worth 50 points each. It makes no difference if the objective is primary, secondary or hidden, they are all worth 50 points for each one completed.

You get 100% of points for successfully landing on your side of the front lines.

You get 70% of your points for an emergency/crash landing on your side.

You get 20% of your points if you are captured.

You get 10% of your points if you are killed.

Missions don't count in campaigns if you are caught or killed.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif Still need the answer to one of those questions:

And I know this will vary slightly from campaign to campaign, but how many missions (on average) must be completed to successfully end a campaign?

It depends on your settings in the config.ini file. You can modify the number of missions in each part of the campaign by inserting a text string at the end of the file. I will look for it as it was described in the readme file of one of the patches. I don't remember which one right off.

I found it here~ From the 1.1b readme file:

2. New parameters in conf.ini:
RandomFlights=n sets number of flight groups not related to mission. Maximum is 5, minimum 0, default 2. New random groups - friendly bombers and returning allied planes.
NoBadWeather eliminates storms, rain, snow, blind weather. All weather is possible by default
NoAirfieldHighlight - Not used airfields won't have AAAs anymore, which also removes their highlighting with a color on a map. They have AAA and are highlighted by default
CampaignAI=Easy (Hard), default is Normal - increases or decreases friendly and hostile AI level.
CampaignMissions=Easy (Hard), default is Normal - switches to different scripts for operations, affecting number of planes and groups. Even on Hard, the scripts are less challenging than in the previous version - for all nations and years. CampaignDifficulty now sets both AI and Missions.
CampaignLength=VeryLong (Long,Medium,Short,VeryShort), default is VeryLong. Sets number of missions in campaign. Long is about 2 times shorter than VeryLong. VeryShort is about 10 times shorter.

The lines can be placed anywhere in conf.ini, but recommended way to do it is to create in the end of the files a new [DGen] section and add everything after that. An example:

[DGen]
NoAirfieldHighlight
NoBadWeather
RandomFlights=5
MissionDistance=30
CampaignMissions=Hard
CampaignAI=Easy

I think that makes a very long campaign about 300 missions. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
