could you please tell me what to expext with my system, and card which ive just installed in the way of FPS
playing the f15 mission in campainge mode im getting 18-26.

spec are

Win 2000pro
amd 2400+
40gb hd
1024 ram
9600xt
wingman extreme

do Drivers for mainboard etc make much difference, ive have the ones that came with the pc do i need to download others, or what tweaks can i make to the card settings to improve things..

sorry about that, settings in game menu are medium (default),
on the ATI settings Direct 3d says
# balanced
# AA is ticked for Application preference and so is AF both X2
AGP is set to 4X and fast write off

Yes, mainboard drivers definatly can make a difference. It's important to keep them up to date for best performance. Part of the deal for keeping your system at it's best. Here is a handy utility for identifying your system components.

It will show your mainboard information as well as provide you with links to sites of the manufacture for updates in most cases. Also you may want to post a dxdiag for the really smart guys to check out and give some recomendations.

Thanks for that, i checked out that site and its awesome! downloaded an updated driver for my mainboard but cant open it how do i do this? in safe mode ??? or what??

First, install DX9.0b.

Then you want to install the VIA Hyperion 4n1 drivers for your mobo chipset. The latest is v4.51 and you can get it here: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300

Just unzip it and run the setup. It'll only install the parts it needs to. It's best to reinstall the video card driver after you update the chipset drivers.

I don't see any drivers listed for your sound. Try setting the sound hardware acceleration to standard before you update the chipset drivers. If it still doesn't show after updating, you can get Realtek drivers from Windows Update, or here:

thanks for that weatherman ill try those things you suggested, with regards the sound i read on one of these forums that you going into dxaig and turn it off! thats what ive done, should i not have??
