obviously alot of people posting on this thread dont play cs.

They are for your enjoyment only, you see someone else walking around in that skin, but another player may see something else, like the original skins for instance.

So basically, you see it, noone else does

Tisk tisk...we need skinning capabilities for SC.

WHEN you skin a game, it's only for YOUR OWN computer. You see everyone running around with those skins/weapon models/whatever else it is you make adjustments to. Everyone else sees the default models, unless they downloaded a skin for their too. Same goes for sounds (such as weapon sounds). This has NO effect on gameplay whatsoever. It just looks different. It makes sense if you think it's cool that the CT's in counter-strike look like spies, and skinning for CS makes sense in general since the graphics are so outdated and newer skins are often higher quality. See what modding capablities can do to keep a game fresh?

I hope they NEVER make skiining capabilities for SC.. imagine spies running around in White suits... or mercs being woman with thongs running around and holding a gun.

maybe they dont want to break the unique look from the different platforms? and who would make a skin cooler than the current one? this one would just be way cool...oh and then there would be those ones with like zero changes where spies just had the colors on their lil helmies or arm mini-cpu changed into like 500 assorted different ones!...but ya see - the trademark is the greenage!!

Ok, here is the beauty of skinning:

you only see what YOU download to skin.

If you are so gungho about the default models, then don't download any skins and still play with people who have. Why would you care if other people saw mercs in thongs? If spies were in white suits, it wouldn't matter so long as they were just as easily covered in shadow (not that anyone good uses stealth anyway). But, if things like that would affect gameplay, then only let people reskin mercs. It's just something to keep the game fresh. If it would change the gameplay though, then I'm not for it. But I'm assuming it wouldn't.

Spekkio If there was a way to skin in SC then I would make my Spy skin a GLOWY skin where I can see spies glow in the dark when I am a merc...you get what I mean now?

EDIT: nvm as I read your whole post I see that you get what I mean... but Ye definantly I think skinning would change gameplay...I would like some outside map like in the forest where you can have a cammo on!!!

Well, how about this for skinning...

When you skin, you can only see the skin for the team you are on. I.e...you make the spies wear glowing outfits. BUT, you can only see the spies in glowing outfits when you are a spy, thus negating its change on gameplay. Likewise, you can put the mercs in thongs if you wish, but you'd only see the mercs in thongs if you were a merc. That way, people could skin and not have an unfair advantage.

I know the pitfall of this: there's no way to actually program that restriction, and people would find a way around it. Just a thought though, and I think it would be cool if it could happen.
