I voted for the new maps because i'm not suffering from any of the bugs or i don't mind them that hard.

The bugs ARE a problem, but the maps are to. i think many people hoked off because the maps were boring, playing them over and over again. i don't mind it, but i can understand some peep do.

there have been so many bugs in this game since the begining, and there still so many now. i think it will be a long time if we ever see all the bugs fixed, but obviously they have the maps so they might as well give us that. oh, and how about the extra maps for splinter cell 1 some day as well?

more maps....

bugs need to be addressed as well but new maps will help hold peoples interest long enough to get the NEXT patch out to fix bugs.

I'm sick of being killed by spies with frags, just because I made the server non PB so my friend can get in. It disappoints me that the vote is 9/10 for maps, but meh, what can I do? ^^

I was just thinking about that... How much work could it be to fix the local .ini exploit?

maybe they could address only that problem and still get new maps? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

I don't tink the spy-nading is such a huge problem. Just ban them if they do it. That shall teach them.

(but don't make this into a glitch-discuss thread)

Can't join so bug fixes for me.
Dont mind other maps if the only way to play is to host it myself.

All jokes aside I'm not going to choose. I see no reason that they don't release both. bug fixes are not optional for game developement companies it's called quality assurance. The product should be working 100% because they want to keep up the image that their products are quality and not half $*& rush jobs. New maps should be given, especially if you're not releasing a mod kit to the community. Customers can see how you're treating them and will get an idea what to expect of ubisoft from these experiences. I enjoy SP:PT but I know I wouldn't purchase another for the PC. I think the handling of the PC title is just poor and not worth the agravation. Money and my time can be spent on other products that value me as a customer in my opinion. So once again I'll state I don't see any reason I would choose one over they other I expect both to be honest.

well said.

I've got a pretty thick skin for problems in games I like, and I like this game alot.

But this game's release has had so many problems (cheifly imo the lack of a map editor). That I doubt I'll be bying Ubi again. Let alone sc3.

Yeh they must work on both issues... however the maps will cost some money not everyone will be able to get em wich is gonna be a big problem.. cause these ppls may be excluded for not beign able to play in the servers with the new maps.. so i dont c the point.. why ubi?why r u doing this?5 bux for 2 maps.. we already purchased the game we have the right to get all the features included extra content... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

What is the point of getting new maps if we can't play? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I have both the duplicate guid/cd-key problem and drop to desktop in the middle of a mp game problem (even after 1.2 patch). The last one is really annoying especialy when I am hosting a game...

It would be cool to have new maps, but as I said, whats the point if you can't play them?

It does make me mad that the PC-version is such low priority to begin with. I wish the community was larger, but it's a chicken-n-egg dilemma. They'll get more out of the x-box community because they put more energy and money into it. I, myself, am a loyal PC advocate and intend on staying that way. I think both issues should be a priority for ubi, but for me, new maps take precedent.

I hear ya Arucard5123. I'm a PC gamer and thats the platform i choose for most of my games. It looks and controls ALOT better than any console hardware and controller. And it feels like we PC gamers are being neglected because Microsoft is where the gauranteed money is. I have an XBOX as well but i could never play FPS on a controller (as well as keyboard/mouse). I like XBOX live for other games (not FPS) but i think its starting to ruin the online gaming community. I mean, online gaming has always been free on PC, outside of ISP costs and Massivily MP games. LIVE costs $50 just to play any game ON TOP of ISP bills... And now they are starting to push "premium content" $5 for 2 maps!? WTF, are you going to start charging a $1 a patch? how bout only 5 cents for each frag grenade? Why not make a service charge for logging into UBI.com? I'm ranting, I'll stop.

summary, i believe the PC community should be maintained in parallel with any other platform regardless of profitability. We bought your game, now dont shut us out because there's no more money to be made. We will gladly shell out the $$ for future games if we are given some support.

(PLZ no console wars, XBOX is a great platform its just not my favorite for every type of game)

It's really sad how evident it is that Ubi doesn't seem to care about the PC as much as the XBox. I mean, obviously, if the XBox is going to be their prize console, then they're going to devote more time and energy into it, which is fine... but when you make it BLATANTLY obvious that the PC Multiplayer just doesn't MATTER to you, it turns me off as a customer. I agree wholeheartedly with omnilaw. Barring some kind of fantastic save by Ubi, I won't be buying Ubisoft again. This is just too frustrating and disappointing.

Well if Ubi continues they're blatant disregard for PC gamers (who started the entire online play market) I'll remember not to buy anymore Ubisoft games. Codemasters, Valve and many other companies treated us right for years so if Ubi doesn't want my money or time then I certainly dont want theirs.

you know something that really bothers me? Before the proliferation of the internet, games used to be shipped nearly bug free. that's right you younger gamers! Before developers had a cheap and easy means to get patches out to customers, they actually created large, long, challenging games that ran smoothly and didn't crash.

Of course there are exception but the general rule now is: oh well it's mostly playable, so we'll just sell it as is and work on a patch for later...and instead of including that one mission, we're gonna package it up as an expansion and charge $30 for it.

That's what companies do nowdays. I understand the need to stay profitable but please FIX the game AND give us new levels! Nothing less will satisfy your 21+ customers that remember the days of internetless (or at best dialup) gaming. (remember when you actually called a friend's computer with your modem to play doom against them?)

Games are getting shorter, easier, and buggier. Generally we don't notice because the advancements in technology work as a crutch and mask most of the sloth.

PT is one of the first new multiplayer genres to be created in the last few years. and for that, I salute you ubi! but that doesn't mean you can get away with a crummy UI and a deplorably tiny number of levels. 8?

UBI, you raised the bar, now it's your job to keep it there.

That's the other thing.
Virtually every other official community forums I visit, there's developer presence.
Here, they just let you stew in your own juices.
No matter how much you complain, or how valid those complaints are, you're not going to get a response.
Hell, I've even seen Atari be more pro-active than this.

Neothermic

i think you should all stop complaining. if UBI hated PC gamers so much, why exactly do we have rhoulette helping us? most of the things we "see" rhoulette doing (although i'm sure her job is much more demanding than this) are PC related, finding out when patches are coming, checking the PC FORUM - YES, THE PC FORUM to see what we are talking about - i think UBI has enough to deal with at the moment, and are doing remarkably well - it's not all about splinter cell you know - they make other games too

Neothermic, we're complaining because we're used to the precedent that other, more community-focussed companies have set.

No offense to Rhoulette, but she's not part of the development team, and cannot offer us any of the information we really want.

For God's sake, if Splash Damage can make a game like Enemy Territory, release it for free, patch it for free, support it for free, and provide free editing tools, then the least I expect Ubi to be able to do is address our concerns.
But no, we're just expected to be happy with our lot.

As for Ubi making other games, they have different development studios for each title.
It's not like the same people who made POPSOT were working on SC:PT.
So the development team for SC:PT should be able to devote some time to the community.

If you want a good example of communication within Ubi, go take a look at the Far Cry boards; there's a prime example of dev-team community participation.

You're absolutely right that we need more developer involvement on the community level, and I assure you this is something we're working on. As you've also observed, we have different studios working on different games, so it's not as easy as a company-wide change in policy.

I'm here to listen, I'm here to take notes on what needs to be done, and all you have to do is look at the scope of the entire boards to guess about how many things are on my List. We appreciate your patience as we strive to better serve the Splinter Cell community. As should be indicated by my recent appearance here, change is in the wind. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

weel... atleast Rhoulette listne to us. Yup we need more like her. Maby many of u guys i complaining BUT i think we should all stand up a give a big HURRAY to Rhoulette cuz she listen to us! (and plz Rhoulette, maby it would be smart to inform dev team about new maps first) cuz if we get the bug fixes first we maby get rid of some bugs, BUT here is a famus line "with new maps comes new bugs" and thats my opinion HURRAY TO Rhoulette!!!!!!!!!! WE LOVE U! ... thats it ...

I've voted 4 the new maps.
Bcuz: when a game becomes boreing, most people are preferring the "new maps", not the "bug fix."

But new maps are kind of useless for people who have only played online 1ce or 2ce.. I havent even seen all the maps that are in the game now, because of the bugs.. It is a very rare thing for me to be able t join.... So i'd like to be able to play AT ALL before having all new maps and stuff..

I vote to get thrown a freakin' bone. At least ubi could announce their intentions. Let me know if they are making a patch, if it's almost done, if they plan on making the new maps for the PC or not, or if they're going to step on the heads of the PC community to reach the money-making xbox community's needs. I need updates... I need to know you care ubi... give me a sign! (I saw Christ's face in my oatmeal this morning, so I'm taking that to mean that ubi is, indeed, making new maps for the PC!)

Ggive us more maps! This might influence ubi to release the maps to the PC. As we all know we eventually will get bug fixes. It has been a lot of talk about a new patch and I think it's OK to confirm that. Besides, what about bug fixes + maps in one handy patch? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My vote went to "more maps"!
