D'oh!!

Well, I guess I should tell the whole story. We were playing a coop mission, which was going great. Claude and another guy did a good job of covering me while I went out on this bridge to lay smoke, but when I started back, I noticed Claude kept shooting at me, and I thought, "What the heck? Doesn't he recognize my frilly thong?"

Rather than shoot back, though, I just ran the other way, with his bullets going in my direction (he clearly wasn't shooting *at* me, or I would have been dead).

Finally, I noticed the message -
Claude: I'm limping really badly! Someone please kill me!

It's been over a month since this thread has been on the front page,so,to the top it goes.

I've had the game almost a year now, and all this time ,have never used the "record game " feature.Well last night I recorded a game.Was playing the "Battle Borne" mod,second mission,in SP mode.Spent over an hour trying to complete mission,only to end up dead before all objectives were complete,lacked finding the second russian off.and making it back to EZ Well this morning,I had a look at the replay and saw mistakes I'd made ,that I didn't know at the time.

In conclusion,if you've never used the replay feature in the game ,give it a try.It shows you're good moves,but also you're screwups /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Gav this is the first Ghost Recon thread to remain on topic with so many post and it will go down in history. I think this was my best post in this thread and it was directed at SG as he wanted to join us in gaming and I outlined what he is up against as the below tells. Got to say though it does become hard work when your in Squad alpha and you have to run to Squad Charlie and push them to the set way point then get back to your own squad. Only to read the chat messages that Wombat tried to sneak one out and crapped himself (darn frustrating).

Then you have GreyHaired who just nodded off while on sentry duty and tango Bernie has just slipped in your defence. Batts will be up all night then too tried to focus on sighting his bang stick and I'm wearing a slug in my ***. Rabbit does his own thing and can be found wondering aimlessly but don't worry (suffers from Alzheimer's). Clay your going to fit in just nice.

If all the wheel-chair bound old idiots need so much help to look in the right direction, I'm assuming to have to point their guns and change clips for them and everything? In which case, I'll write a mod (to keep the game new!), which will allow your standard loadout of "elite" (I use the term loosely) troops, plus a few volunteer nurses - one for each fireteam. They will then be able to assist you in wheelchair-pushing duties, administering of their medication, pointing them in the right direction, encouraging them to march towards their waypoints by telling them there's a bingo hall over there... That sort of thing.

But, there'd be a price to pay of course. Keeping the nurses alive would become an extra objective. Otherwise you'd soon run out of volunteers! And they might get you killed if you start gazing at them in their short tight-fitting uniforms instead of looking for tangoes...! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

You'd need to build in a key to make them disappear and pop up again randomly, otherwise "we" wouldn't have a chance against the more cunning players. It would also save us the trouble to explain the wife when she passes by and comments: "Wargame, hey?"

I've changed the spec. Instead of nurses uniforms, they'll just wear skimpy underwear - a different colour for each fireteam. On top of this, they'll wear the usual DPM uniform to avoid awkward questions from wives/girlfriends/mothers etc. However. When you "change weapon" with them, they take off or put on their clothes to reveal or cover up their underwear as required...

The true defence against the cunning player (of which I am one) is to ensure that your nurses are better looking than his nurses. That way you distract him more than he distracts you. As you play through the campaign, rather than being awarded specialists, you get better looking women to keep you one step ahead of the opposition! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hey guys, I have played GR for a long time when the game came out on PC and tried a couple of mods but never really played multiplayer since i had a 56Kbs connection. 56k modem connection is not a big problem when you are playing multiplayer. We have 2 guys at our team playing on a 56k modem connection. They lag from time to time, but not so much that they cant play.

Playing GR is awesome, but when you start playing multiplayer, you will experience a whole new game.

OK, Gr teaches me something new everyday...Today i learned 3 things....

1: Im a cheater
2: People dont like cheaters
3: Cheaters get banned from servers....

Got banned from 2 servers today, bringing my total to 6! w00t....

First....My clan members and I were looking for a good server to play in...because some one messed up when they changed the hard drive on our server....i wont get into detail but apparantly they put RvS on our GR server and vice versa.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

OK...we found a server, [VF]...we play in there for two games...We own them two times...Then i noticed the second game ended after 13:36 but both teams had living members.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif The game timer, "b", said 1:33 when the game ended, so i simply said "the game timer said 1:33 when it ended"..All of a sudden im a cheater...w00t! Feels good to be called a cheater when you know you arent...So they were trying to convince me that i was using a speed cheat...Now, i have heard of a speed cheat that makes u run fast but not one that makes your timer go...errr....slower...I tried to explain to him that if i had a speed cheat then my timer would be lower, not higher then everyone elses...right?...Then i noticed my ping was better then everyone elses in the room, big time...Then he booted 5 of us(afd)...and then i joined back and now we are all banned.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Then we looked on ase and found a FMJ server, theres one member of them who plays on our server and he seems nice enuff...so we headed there...a few afd members play in there for about 6 games...Then i join, after rebooting and eating...and what do ya know, we owned them....So without even saying abything they banned us all!...w00t!...note: i didnt say a single word the whole time i was in there...and i had 12 kills that match...

IM A CHEATER AND I DIDNT EVEN KNOW IT!!! WOOT!

I have a friend who was banned from a server (one that does HX5). Now, this guy would no more cheat than Howard Dean would say that George Bush *is* his neighbor.

Seriously. They banned him, so I wrote them and explained how this guy would never cheat, etc. They agreed to review, and finally agreed that he didn't cheat - he simply shot better.

One time there was this guy, came to our server, and always ran full bore. He'd run and shoot, and someone would calmly turn and put a couple in his chest. And then he'd claim they cheated. We put that to rest, explained it to him, but he still doubted us.

Another time, we played pistols only, and it was really funny. A guy chose sniper (um NO body armor) and would shoot his little pea-shooter at my chest. Meanwhile, I chose support (heh heh) and took all those shots, then plugged him in the head.

He said I had to be cheating. Everyone laughed.

Sorry to hear about that happening to you, though, man. Some server guys are nuts.

I dont care...if they suck so much that they have to resort to accusing me of cheating then its a waste of my time playing with them...

Got banned from another earlier, today was a good day for me...they were running DAGR4.8 and anyone who has ever played that mod knows that each gun pretty much has a built in "retlock"...I took rifleman 108, Steyr Aug sd and nades to Airbase...I was in red spawn and ran north to the radio tower and just sat right inside that north door, took down 12 of them without getting killed once....the just kept coming and falling...when they spotted me, i would move to the west door, take someone down and move back....I ended up with 16 kills and and one deat and that death was a TK....rest assured they banned me...

If you think about it, it feels good being called a cheater, especially when you know you arent...You must be doing sumtin right....

WOW that brings the total to 7....Im banned from 7 servers...never cheated and never will tho...

Yes, FMJ and they didnt even give a reason, the lost one in which i had 12 kills and 2 deaths and they kicked me....just like that...not a word was said to me from the time i joined and the time i left....

JP, i am not sure...I just know that the guy who kicked us for this "Speed Cheat" was V-F Murphy....

GH supplied us with another classic such as the one when he fragged himself on the Farm mission. This time only GH and I were left on a firefight and were closing in on the last of the tangos. I should have used voice comms to let him know I was advancing on his right, but didn't. I advanced using good cover from remaining tangos, but not from GH. He riddled me! Sorry to hear that you being banned for suspected cheating but it's all part of the game and learning curve. Some player just can't seem to understand that there is always someone better than then but it would have been nice for one of there team go observer and watch you rather than just boot on suspicion. Don't worry V-F Murphy he gets spanked all the time so more practise for that gamer I say.

I don't normally tolerate Cheating or Cheaters But I really had a blast with you the other night Claudeboy./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Good tough Close matches & it reminded me what I love about GR Multiplaying at it's best even though I was half cut.

I know some other clans can be to hasty to ban. If we suspect someone of cheating. we watch them like a hawk for definate evidence. (including one of our guys dropping off the server to watch a replay's) & if we're 100% sure he/she is cheating we then talk to them about it & then Ban them. our Clan dosn't tolerate Cheating of any sort which is why we have to be 100% sure before we react. I feel alot of clans would do well to use this approach.

I know when someone absolutely slaughters you it can be easy to point an accusing finger. I've experience the dishartening experience myself a few times (/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif being Slaughterd & thinking ... how the hell) but 99% of the time it me having a bad day & the opposition being on top form. the folowing day the roles can be reversed. it happens./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Some years ago I played Netmech (dos multiplayer version of Mechwarrior) and I was XO in a scottich clan.

I played a game once against 3 guys from a nother clan. They lost big time, and after the match they said that I was cheating. No way I said, and they send me some info from their server. It appeared that I could take 300% more shots than them before I died.

It turned out that I had downloaded a file from a server that I should use to play,but that file contained a cheat file that I didnt know about. To my luck they realized that it was their webmaster that had made an error and I was without fault in that matter.

There is only one thing worser than a cheater, thats to be called a cheater, without beeing one.

Going back to the original post of this thread, I believe the greatest aspect of this game is its direct IP hosting MP.

Someone here mentioned DOS Mech. That is when I started gaming. DOS-Mech, Mech2 (2d & 3d) Mech3, BattleZone, GR, Mech4. Great games. Great friends. Many now moved on--lost in the maze of newer games. Many of these aforemetioned games no longer MP.

Yepper the direct IP hosting will allow those in the circle I belong to, to enjoy this game for a long time. For some of us the mainstay now is 1942, for some it's plant side, for some it's tribes. Others I don't even keep up with. However, we always seem to get together once a week for "The Tuesday Night Fights." It may not be the same folks every week. But within a given month we all pretty much have touch as least a couple of games together. It is not just the DoW either. Some of the boys from the KoV and â»ÓšRFâ« join in as well. We all kind of came out of BattleZone.

Direct IP hosting of GR has allow us to stay in touch and have a common ground upon which to continue our friendships. Many of us go back well over 5 years together. I can see that until the full 64 bit systems become the mainstay that GR will continue in this very important role.

Sorry but the past few nights no games. I've been busy and working on a large project for the USAF. Soon I will be finished. (I hope; that is if the specs don't get changed again! errr for the 4th time!)

For a long time we had Tues, night fights. However, as I said this past few weeks I've just been slamed. I got close to 400 hours in this project plus I still have a business to run.

I just posted for the group about this upcoming Tues. 8 pm EST. Now Pruag has moved and his dial up the past few games has really been killing us. When he games we have to do solo, or teams etc. But he is a good guy, and he just had a baby so at the moment his monies are going that direction.

The game is somewhat new to him. He is one of the best MechWarrior Pilots I've ever seen. Unlike some gamers he never cusses etc. You will enjoy his company. Now a couple of the ARF will cut loose with a word or two. Our DoW-WilloW will from time to time. I've never heard the KoV say a cuss word, unless Launchy joins in. However I have not seen him in 6 months or better.

All in all we are just a fun loving group.

Check the server tonight. Anywhere from 6pm to 2am. I'm sure that somewhere in that timeline there will be a game.
