I am almost finished Gahreesen, but cannot make the jump to the mesa. I have fallen many many times http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. I have looked at the Uru walkthru (which is invaluable to me--thanks!!) but need a jumping tip. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I'm not sure where you're talking about, but I'll give some hints. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif From the rotating walkway, you jump to the midpoint between the buildings. Then there is another jump to a lower point, the ONE jump to an even lower point. Are you maybe trying to make too many jumps?

I've made it to the first mesa, but cannot get to the lower one...the one before the last one with the door.
(it's funny....i think i write my question clearly until i reread it and realize how vague it really is http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif)
i see the really small one too but am pretty sure i don't need that one

All righty. 3 jumps.
1. to the place between the buildings
2. the the slighty lower place off the the "right" of the first place (try a standing "run-jump")
3. The place before the door (an actual running start jump)

The reason I'm re-clarifying this is because people apparently keep trying to jump to a point between 2 and 3 on this list - and they don't have to.

I've tried the one jump from the rock with the Journey and it didn't work. I only tried it once, though, since the other jumps worked for me.

You don't need the last jump. Just from the midpoint to the one directly below, and from there a running jump will help you reach your destination.

i'm getting pretty bruised up from falling down the cliff this many times! i just can't seem to land properly on my first jump from the midpoint. facing that mesa, i move alittle left and line myself up, run and jump but unfortunately end up missing it and crashing to the rocks below. have also tried by jumping off the walkway.... i guess it's just a matter of timing and speed

Note: please ignore what this looks like. I fiddled with the screenie to make it easier to see. It's much nicer looking in-game. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As and alternative to jumping from 1 to 2, you can jump onto the moving walkway and then turn around and drop off onto the second mesa. You're probably not going to be able to turn around fast enough to get it right after jumping onto the walkway, so I recommend just riding around till you get back there. Move right to the edge and keepa look out for it by looking left till you get close to it, then look down at your feet and as the mesa moves by jump off.

I tried running through the building to get to the opposite walkway in time, but it took as long as just standing there because of having to wait for doors to open and close. So just stand there and enjoy the scenery.

For the second jump turn and line up with the end of the path leading to the door. Get into 3rd Person POV. Back straight up to the far edge and then run like heck, jumping at the last minute. You will sail majestically over that other smaller mesa and right onto the path. Lock running mode before you make the jump. It will help not having to hold two keys and press a third (for the jump).

You can reach the lower, smaller mesa (between 2 and 3 above) from 1 but I suggest it only to advanced hoppers! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Choosing a good starting point and direction is very critical.

Facing the Journey cloth, I would turn left and walk over to the top of the little ramp going down to the lower ledge. Line up the direction straight to the mesa below. Starting at that point, take a running jump (run down the ramp to the edge---jump just ONCE; don't repeat) and you will usually land on the mesa (just be sure to quit running when you land... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ). From there, line yourself up facing the cave entrance (or facing just slightly to the right of it), back up a little bit (watch you don't fall off backwards... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ), then do a running jump to the cave's ledge. Usually did this in first person; I found it easier that way.

When you're on that smaller mesa, (#2 above), then you'll see a little ramp on the side. Just walk carefully so that you drop down onto it.

Then line yourself up with the lower mesa where the door is located, put your caps lock on to run and do a running jump. You'll get it all the time from that little ramp.

And the trick to getting across to the smaller mesa, is to go down the ramp so that you're across from it. Then do a running jump but stop immediately.

Let us know how you do.

Many thanks from me too! I'd attempted to reach the doorway by jumping to all the mesas in turn, but could never hit the little one. I also tried jumping from 1 directly to 3, and almost made it... but when I tried Guiun's method above, I made it on the first try.

I have to say though, the most frustrating part of this puzzle wasn't getting the jumps right. I'd have gotten there eventually. The real frustration was having to sit through two age loads to make another try, and Gahreesen takes a VERY long time to load. That was the main reason I gave up and consulted the spoilers! I was tired of sitting through those Age loads, and just wanted to get on with the game.

Thanks again!

You have problems with jumping? Gahreesen is good to practice before in Live you get the tiny islands around Relto. And probably you may want to visit the new parts of your realm. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I ran across that too. I kept thinking I was daft until I realized I had it right all along and it was just really picky about the way I landed. I've noticed it a couple of times now that its harder to execute the idea than arrive on it. Since we are talking about Gareeshen, how do you get to the upper part of the fortress? And how do I get my green KI to open the remaining doors?

Angelie, you should practice a little somewhere.
1) There is a walk-jump and run-jump.
2) Making a run jump, the timing of pressing the buttons is very critical. You can press the shift button in advance, then hit the forward button and immediately after it the space bar. In this case the avie will jump immediately, without making 1-2 steps forward. With this method you can make a jump without falling down even if you stand at the very edge of a rock, only your heel on the ledge.

I'll have to try the jump again. I beat all of Gahreesen and found the door (all on me own, WOOT!). Then when I tried the jump and as soon as I left the ground, I went back to Relto. I didn't even fall below the mesa I jumped off of. Maybe it's a bug, but a lot of other freaky stuff seems to happen in that Age.
