the ability to screw out lightbulbs. Many a time in the game, even if no one is around, i'll still shoot the light just in case. I wish that for these types of situations, there would be an option to come right up to the light source and screw the bulb out. Kinda like in NOLF2 (No One Lives Forever 2)

Would you have to carry a step-ladder under the light, "deploy" the step-ladder, and unscrew the bulb? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Being able to unscrew a bulb while in a split-jump would rox0r.

I don't know how useful a feature this would be -- nothing earth-shattering about it -- but kind of funny for a spy to twist out a lightbulb.

Lights on desks should be able to be screwed out but not the ones on the ceiling.

It does waste ammo, i agree.

And he said he would switch the light off but the guards turn the lights back on and he wants to knock them out permanently.

If you can find a bottle lying around, you can throw the bottle at the light and it will explode, or whatever they do. This only works however it the light is exposed (no little thing surrounding it.

i think ring airfoils will knock out a bulb and you'll still be able to pick it up. i'll test this sometime.

I would like to see a special feature unlocked if you shoot out every light possible during the game! They could call it the Pitch Black Award!

If you think I'm in that dark corner down the hallway, I'm in the dark corner you just walked by.

yeah that would be cool if you could unscrew lightbulbs, I remember it from the "No One Lives Forever" series as well. Thought it was pretty damned cool myself... seemed more spy-ish...

screwing in a lightbulb will burn sam's fingers. and with burned fingers, he won't be able to shoot as accurately as before. so he'll end up having to resort to shooting all of the lightbulbs instead of unscrewing them. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Sam does wear gloves, and I'm pretty sure they'd keep his fingers from getting burned... and anyway, if it's a light that you would have time to remove from the socket, what's the point of removing it to make the area dark? Just keep on moving. The only time I shoot out lights is to draw attention from nearby guards and make them walk into a now dark area and then get rid of them.

Next Splinter Cell Games I would like to see the enemy AI improved, like them trying some tactics on you if they suspect there's a spy in the room. Like falling back behind furniture, throwing flares, etc.. some of the most tense areas in SC1 came against enemies that had lights/night vision. Also maybe the enemy AI can see that a light bulb was shot, then they go up and screw a new one in!!

<****> Spy for hire, like a mercenary, but a spy.. w3rd <****>

Let's think for a second how usefull this would actually be. When taking out a light, you're usually in the dark and plan to move to that area to not be seen. To remove the bulb means that you are going to be lit up like a Christmas tree for X amount of seconds while you remove the bulb (kinda defeating the purpose of removing it in the first place). Rarely do I shoot out a light that is already lighting me up.

My thoughts exactly ... and if you're safe in bright light for the time it takes to remove the bulb, obviously no one's around, so there's no need to make it dark anyway .. as far as conserving ammo ... gimme a break lol ... the game gives you more than enough ammo to shoot whatever lights and/or enemies in each level necessary. If you're running out of ammo in any mission, you're not playing SC the way it's meant to be played.

There would be a massive advantage, realistically, to unscrew the bulb, given a few other areas of realism were enhanced. First, many places such as areas in view of patrol paths, need to be dark, but you have certain periods where you are safe while it's lit (giving the time to unscrew it). A bulb that's barely unscrewed gives the illusion of simply being burned out, a shot out bulb looks, well, shot out. A bottle isn't a bad option since the average vandal could've done it. However, while we're stepping up the realism, broken bulbs and especially broken bottles should leave noisy glass on the ground--this alone would be the pivotal reason that would make this a very smart idea. So, IF broken glass and especially bullet holes raised the alertness and suspicion of guards, a way to more discretely take out lights by leaving less evidence would be critical. However, if it comes down to improved AI, or small realism intricacies, I'll take improved AI...

I surely miss that you cant shoot out the lights in multiplayer, that would ROCK.

You can shoot out lights in multi.

Sector 2 of Warehouse I know you can, a chaff darkens the whole room. I think any place where there are uncovered lights you can shoot them out.
