Let's talk about something different and get this forum alive and laughing like it used to be...

Been here for 13 years, but still a Kiwi at heart.
The way this forum used to be was that you could, in a G rating, talk about just about anything you wanted. We have all played the games and found a place to hang after. I was hooked the first time I stumbled into here. The humour and variety of people in here kept this forum alive. I sense a subdued atmosphere right now. I don't like the way things went down, but what is done is done. I hate to say that. With the right people in the Mod spot we should rebound. This is a fairly liberal place and I for one would like to keep it that way.

I slid and in trying to roll with the fall I couldn't tuck my hand fast enough. It was so fast I only know for sure I bent the wrist all the way back. Damage proved to be worse...several cracked bones in the hand and a tons of tendon and ligament damage. The first week was the worst but now I'm down to removable braces for light exercise to keep the muscles fine...but since the swelling is going up, it's back to the brace and one fingered typing and sliding off the mouse.
As for Happenings...it's dead. Anything I wrote would just get it locked any way. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

Actually, it didn't ouch till much later because I was icing my bruised and swelling knee with my right hand. Can you say understatement? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
But alas...I'm poofinated.

In responce to the thread title, I never thought I'd say this here, but GROW UP!
It's not a big deal. It wasn't a payig position, it isn't actually that much better of a status, and this whole thing could have been prevented with some common sence! Don't even try saying that it completely wasn't MM's fault, which is the impression I am given from the way you all are talking. Sure the UBI staff is only human and in that most decisions are based off of fealings, but they are proffessionals, which makes them realise that their oppinion doesn't matter when it comes to making this kind of judgement. I've seen both sides of this, both second hand and personaly. All I have to say to compare them is that there is no reason to complain here. When it happened to me, we all found out shortly after that the root admin was doing things that were more than wrong to do (i.e.: using the special abilities to learn member passwords and look into the PM inbox.) MM did say some things that can be considered abuse. You cannot say that she was wrongfully dropped from her status, as she admitted herself that she had done stuff in the forum past quite similar, and she should have learned by now that she shouldn't do that. I'm sorry for how pathetic you are if you find it neccessary to argue with me on this, but the fact remains: MM is no longer a mod for reasons that were perfectally in her control.

You know what kis, I've had it. You seriously need to mature about this a little. Having fun is fine, but I hate it when I see it being taken at the expense of others. You want to poke fun at someone, do a private topic. Just when I finaly get a clean start with one person who was just a real @$$, I come here and find some members who I used to look up to starting to act just like he used to.

Hey guys, what's going on here. I leave for a while and everyone seems so hostile. We used to all agree to disagree on some topics, and then we'd just stick to good, old fashion, silly fun.
And this new format is wierd. When did this start???
Anyway - HI TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!!!
Mara, it is good to see you are still with us and had time to drop in. New forum about a month ago and it isn't near as easy or friendly as the old forum.
Drop in once in a while.

CK, I'm afraid I'd have to call your post at the beginning of page 2 flaming, big time. You want to be upset by thread titles, what's being said, fine, but make it in general terms not directed at anyone.
And telling people, who in many cases are twice or more your age, to grow up does not endear you any the more.

Homer, I just don't care anymore. I've held my tounge here for a long time, and there is onlyso much I can take before it explodes. Maby I should just leave for a while. In fact, that's what i'm gonna do. Don't expect me here for a few weeks, tonight is the last time I'm here for a while.

As hard as it may seem CK, part of "growing up" as you put it, is being able to not say the very things you want. It can drive you nuts when there are many things you want to say but can't, or shouldn't, or know that if you do it will cause greater harm than just remaining quiet.
There are many things I would love to say CK, but life's experiences have taught me it will not be the right thing, and it will surve no greater good. And, I've learned to evaluate the situation as to its importantance to me before I speak.
You might think leaving will be the best for you, and you do have that choice, but it will deprive everyone else of your presence, something that many here like.

My neighbour is from Edmonton and married to a Kiwi. Sounds all the same to me. You know when the kids are dragging it she says "ok lets pull finger", or when the coffee cup is low "the tide is out",etc. Choice phrases that I've long forgotten but still understand without missing a beat.

Ok, so there is funny lively conversation going on in this thread... interesting how the title gives this thread a totally different idea of what is going on in here (and IMHO, the title is very immature for this current time)
But then again, this is all just IMHO. Feel free to toss it away like a grain of salt.

You see that kind of stuff a lot here - I know of a Croatian married to a Ukrainian (their only common language was Czech or something really weird, until she learned English)
And a French Swiss married to a Filipina - they used to swear at each other when fighting in their native tongues, which the other didn't speak http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
