I sure hope the grammar is fixed for the final release of PT. Perhaps the phrase "Player choke to death" is supposed to be a comical allusion to the phenomenon of bad translations in games. I just wonder why Ubi Soft couldn't get some people to do proper translations for PT. Hmmm. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

In all the videos I've seen it's always been "<username> choked to death.", maybe you misread it or it's an old build? Also if it really says that, which video did you see that in?

It's the #5 spy movie on the Movie Blowout 2 on IGN.

Well hey, you're right. I didn't notice that earlier. Let's hope they have that stuff ironed out for the final build, I would be very surprised if a game of this caliber had glaring grammar issues like that.

I doubt it is any reference to the old video games, more likely a typo, just like this one that I'm sure EVERYONE knows of from Warcraft:
You have been pwned.

Um....it was made by Ubisoft Shanghai. Well, Ubisoft Annecy (France) made the multiplayer part of the game. Montreal is working on another Splinter Cell.

Yes... I noticed that a while back in the Mercenary videos on the official webpage.

Anything falls under that kind of defination some of you reffer to as a "mistake".
First, any kind of typo.
Next, take |337. It was formed over typos. The O button is right next to the 0 (zero) button. So is E next to 3 and T close to 7.
I are not suprised if it turns out to be in the final copy.

Dawg hit the nail on the head.
PT singleplayer was developed by Shanghai while the french developed multiplayer.
The errors are not only in a few videos, all the ones I have seen off ign for multiplayer have some sort of grammatical error.

I find it all coincedence that l337 talk have the letter next to the corresponding number. Because it is mere coincedence that the 3 looks like a backwards E, and that 7 looks like a T. I doubt it was from typos that l337 started.

It supposed to be like a hackers code language but only kids use it that think that they know something about hacking!

Someone made the mistake of saying:
"Bit3 me!"
And it started to catch on. IRC has info on how it was started. I have good belief it was error that someone backed up with "I meant to do that" and eventually spread.

I am just saying that it is coincedence that the "Bit3!" 3 looked like an E. If there had been a number like 5 in its place he would have said "Bit5!", but it just happens to be that the 3 key was in the right place at the right time, and has a similar look to the letter "E."

Coincidence indeed. But that's the basic idea of how it spread. Someone with a brain decided to stretch the language into something official.
