I was thinking about the AI and it is that alone that might persuade the MP only gamers to try the SP.

well i think iam going to play MP most of the time cause iam more a MPer than a SPer just cause MP is difrent evry time you play thats just some thing you can NEVER have whit SP

If you're going to purchase a game that has SP and MP why not play both to get your money's worth? After all they've spent the majority of the time working on SP.

I will be on multiplayer all of the time, but i always go through SP first.

Jasper, the SP is going to be different most of the time in Far Cry because of the AI. Besides in MP you do pretty much the same thing any way like DM, TDM and CTF.

But I will play the SP before the MP anyway, I am more of a single player kind of guy.

That's why I do like the work put in AI and non-lineair level design more than you guys do. Maybe, maybe I'll start playing MP with this game, certainly if it's as good as promised.

I'd love to see the AI in action too. I would play single player a few times on different difficulties, then some MP over the LAN, then I'll get a few people on my LAN to join with others on the Net. Might get some lag though if Telstra doesn't upgrade our phone lines (slack *&^%#s, can't even get ADSL!)

About MP being different every time...it's not always. That's the main reason I stopped playing Counterstrike--same old maps, same old routes, same old tactics.

I don't think that will be a problem with Far Cry, though, with it's huge maps. I wouldn't mind a few sprawling urban environments in MP, though that will have to wait until it's modded, I imagine.

When the Map Editor comes out (sandbox I think) everyone will be making their own maps, there would be maps a plenty! Also I think CryTek should put in generated maps, that would be fun!

I always go through SP once or twice for many reasons. One is to get a feel for the game so I can jump in MP without being a complete "newb".

well yeh oke CS is CAMPING AND KILLING ENTRANCE i call that the CAKE manouver first you wait in a camp spot and than you go and check out all the CAMP spots and evry boddy is killed /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif than you can say ''you CAKE'' that better than to say CAMPER campping is lame CAKEING is DA WAY TO DO IT.

yeh well i still need to see how long it takes to understand the AI cause if you play the game you dont know exactly what its doing but when reading the CODE you know what its doing and the game get alot easyer than /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

That's exactly why I'm going to play the single-player part before I do anything else. If you look at anything else, even multi-player, a lot of surprises are gone.

Some weapons would you know about from the start and you'd know immediately what the AI's week spots are, if they have any.

That's for me a reason also why I hope they release the SDK a week (or two weeks at max) after the release in Europe. Could they do that?

MP spoils the game if you play it first, I agree with Scipey on that.

Single player shows the player what you can do with the game.

Yeah, and most of the work has been put in to Single Player, so why not check out all the rich landscape, challenging AI, and an awesome story line? It looks like you could play Far Cry again and again because of it's unlimited terrain and unpredictable AI. Then of course when you and your friends are sick of single player, do some networking and challenge each other (and possibly the AI too!)

i am also REALY looking forward to mp aswell...

i am usualy a MP person, its so fun to try to trick real people.... haha .....

i think it would be super cool to have some a.i. bots in multiplayer to do certain tasks like gard bases, or do patrolls and report to team using radio...

bots in multiplayer would suck big time, unless its like a co op mission.

the AI ive seen so far looks bad tbh, and the sound of the M16 is SO BAD its unbelievable, i really hope this game dont suck as much as i think it does right now.

but to answer the original question, ill proba play multiplayer first then go through singleplayer

MC I don't know about that, this AI is pretty impressive in this game, they would whip your arse first (mine too).

Nick AI in multiplayer would be sweet, like this "Assault" match type thing (I have no idea what it is), but I hope it is where you and other players team up against a team of AI or more.
