Sure the most of you know it, or knew better ways to do it, but if someone is searching for a good unwrapping tool to help during the UV Mapping, try Chilliskinner (http://www.chilliweb.co.uk/chilliskinner/) This tool can (semi)automatically unwrap Polygons and arrange them in the best way on a square texture, without texture distortion caused by standard "flat" mapping.. maybe quite usefull, at leat I found it to be a good way to unwrap my (rather poor /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif ) UT Model that I did some time ago.
Look at this Howto (http://www.chilliweb.co.uk/chilliskinner/SkinningHowTo.htm) to get a overview how Chilliskinner works.
