k... so im making a tunnel were u gota start off by going staright down (droppiing into the tunnel).. i cannot use the ViseArea because the Portal can only be used sideways, (not from top to bttom)... and the tunnel needs to start on ground level, and the ground level is just by the sea... so forget the visearea bcause i spent al day yesturday trying with it... is there another way to remove a part of water or lower it?... i only need it 2 meter squared space, then i can add a portal....

Bring up the terrain window and under the Modify menu you'll see "Remove Water" and "Set Water Level"

Although I've not found any problem using portals in any direction?? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

In which case you need to use visareas and portals, as the water setting is global. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

To place a horizontal portal make sure you place it using the top/left/fron viewports and not perspective view as this tend to make placng impossible..

I just tried your straight down tunnel idea, this is what mine looks like with a horizontal portal. (it drops down to about 5ft below sea level)

A view outwards... I know, I forgot to put a ladder in http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif

Err.. this is weird...

I had just replied with piccys.. and It's just disappeared with a message saying moderators need to view it first due to a keyword trigger putting it in a queue??.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

you can not remove the water in just one spot, at least I don't know of a way.

For senario you mentioned the only solution I can think of is to remove all water (or lower it out of the way) - and use water volumes instead. Water volumes have boundries.

Ah, I'll post the jist of it again.. (don't blame me if the original post comes back http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

Basically all you need to use is visareas and a horizontal portal, make sure you place the portal using top/front/left viewports instead of perspective view which makes it virtually impossible to control where the portal goes.

If you like I can build a quick tiny level with only the said hole in the ground in it and put it up for download so you can see what I mean.
