With the 'Set up position' function on CM 9000, is there a way to set up a position where I play black and the computer play white?? I see where it gives you a choice as to which side moves first, but I don't see a choice as to what side I can play. Do I always have to play white?

Also, is there a way to set up a position, 'save' it, play a few turns to explore move options, then go right back to the 'beginning' (saved) position to try other move options (without having to reset up original position)???

thanx

If you want to play black in a "set up position" game just start a new game where you're black. Then immediatly go to set up position. White will probably have made his first move by the time you get there but it won't matter. Once you have finished the setup when you go Once you click OK it will drop you back to the board playing as black (your chosen side).

To save a position you can do one of two things.

When you select file/save down at the bottom you can change the save as type. Board position or Forsythe Position will save the board position so you can load it from that point. I think Forsythe position can be read by alot of different chess programs while the board position is just for CM9K (don't quote me on this I just know that Forsythe Posistion is used by a number of different chess programs).
