I have heard rumor of a Ladder reset with release of 1.41. My question is... since PB will be optional... then what does it matter if the ladder is reset?

I am ranked fairly high currently. I am also sure some that are ranked do cheat (which is unforunate and unfair) but with this option of using PB then the ladder will still have those cheaters on there. So resetting the ladder would be useless.

A reset makes no sense. It is also unfair for those that are ranked and didn't use cheats to get ranked.

It's a good thing the ladder will be reset IMHO.

I understand it sucks for the people that have a nice rank.... but still... think about all the cheaters with high ranks!

Fair people will stand a better chanche now.

Its not like that ladder ranks people correctly anyways. They should redo the whole ranking system then reset it.

Well you can get from rank 1000000 to 500 in a few hours.... but i think the ladder works pretty good.

Why?

Well when i suck i go down at the ladder... and when i play good i will get a better rank.... sounds logical... must work good then. right? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I whole-heartly agree. However, that's not what is being done. Honestly, I am rather upset about it. Considering all the non-ranked people are complaining to have it reset and they don't understand how it is currently flawed.

With 1.41 there will still be cheaters ranked. Because they will simply play without PB (since it's optional).

I think if they reset the ladder then PB should not be optional if you wish to play online MP.

Furthermore, I think the ladder should not be reset at all until they resolve the problem with the current ranking system. Being killed by a n00b and losing all your rank is not good.

I don't think you understand. Many ranked players do NOT cheat. It is VERY unfair to them.

Also resetting the ladder and making PB optional isn't exactly resolving the issue of 'leveling the playing field'.

All you are doing is punishing the 'fairly' ranked players.

i finally caved and read a cheat forum. there was one thread that said "get the most from your cheating experience" (cue much shaking of heads) how excruciatingly lame. a whole community of intangibly pathetic little individuals who think because they cheat in games that theyre all "hackers"

So what. That means that with the cheaters out of the way, the legit good players will rise faster than ever.

Its like everything in life,a certain few spoil it for the rest.

Hopefully pb runs so well that the majority of the private server use it.

Honestly, I believe many just want it reset because they don't want to put the time in that others have to get where they are. I personally am ranked high because the system is like it is. Anyone can be high ranked... it just takes time, effort and knowledge of how a 'ladder' works (and 'some' skill ofcourse). It's nothing magical and it certainly doesn't require 'cheats'(I am proof with a 1.36 K/D ratio and ranked approx 5th in the world). /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If the ranking system is to be reset... FIX IT. Make the ranking more like other FPS ranking systems. Not a ladder.

Well, I suppose that if UBI takes stats from servers using PB and non-PB servers that will defeat the whole purpose of re-setting the ladder. Still though the majority of legit players will want to play on PB enabled servers. Why in the hell would someone want to play on server that openly allows cheats by not running PB. The whole privacy issues is BS and is used by the cheaters to hide behind. If you have nothing to hide than PB servers should be the way to go. UBI should only track PB enabled servers.

I agree about PB. If you look in all my posts... I am ALL for PB. I cannot wait! PB is a god-send for RvS.

However, resetting the ladder and not fixing it and allowing PB to be optional is outright stupid. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I've never cared about the ladder really, the only thing I cared about is to see my all time stats. Is there any way to do this without being on top 10.000? (I only play TS so I'm not up there so often...)

Something does need to be done about the ladder... it is far too erratic, as many people have been trying to point out. I would be very grateful if UBI would consider altering it in some way to make it more stable (i.e. so you dont drop 5000 places because you took your hand off the mouse to scratch your nose and consequently got nailed by some lucky johndoe).

Here is what I posted in another thread for those that missed it:

UBI... please change the system to be more balanced based on over all skills. Please take into account the following:

1)Total Kills
2)Total Deaths
3)K/D Ratio
4)Team Wins (important in Team Survival mode)
5)Objectives Met (i.e. disarm a bomb, arm and detonate a bomb, you are the pilot and escape, you rescue a hostage and so forth)
6)Who you kill, who kills you (not like the current ladder... make it a very small portion of gaining/losing points)

Ed, you've said it a bunch of times yourself, the ladder is flawed. So why all the but-hurt because they are resetting it. If they reset the ladder, then there will be more likely a chance that they will change how it is calculated.
And also I disagree with all of the remarks about the non-PB players still being able to rank high on the ladder. Your ranking depends a lot on who you kill(ie. killing a great player like myself helps your rank, but killing a noob like Ed hurts it, jk) You have to agree Ed that the top skilled players in RvS will be playing on PB servers, and I would say that the majority of the RvS community will be playing on PB servers as well. Therefore, the cheaters can play all they want on the non-PB servers with a bunch of other unskilled cheaters, therefore not really assisting in their ranking.

Dont worry so much Ed, just put in another 169 hours of playing time, and you will be back on top!

Whiskey... my whole point in all my posts is that UBI needs to change how the ranking system works. Resetting will be useless.

The whole system needs to be redone (ladder that is) as has been previously stated. One question, how many non-PB servers do you think there will actually be? I'm guessing, not many. Few places for the l33t cheaters to hang out, but many, many more servers for the legit players. I don't see the non-PB players being a huge problem. Just my opinion.
