When I enter the options section in the red book,
the program crashes with the following error message:
"Unable to locate SpotItem # # 1521"

I want to go to options to turn subtitles on, because the character's speeches are not heard.

My system:
350 MHz Pentium II (Intel)
196 Mb SDRAM DIMM
SiS 6326 AGP 8Mb BIOS 1.23f
CMI 8330/C3D Audio Adapter
PCI Onboard IDE
V120H ATAPI CD-ROM 40x
Windows 98 (2nd edition)

Thanks for the help!

Fidel,

Usually an "Unable to find..." error means the laser in your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive was not able to read the file to which it was directed by the main program. Try cleaning your disk(s) with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.

Thanks, but it didn't work...
I am missing the dialogues, and so, the storyline.
Is there any place I can get a dialogue scripts?
Or perhaps only the important data in the dialogues...
Thanks again.

Fidel,

Are you running a Full Install or a Typical Install? If a Full Install, you would have to re-copy the Data folders from Disks 2-4 to your hard disk after cleaning the disks. If you are running a Typical Install and have enough room on your hard disk for a Full Install, try that. I still think it's a CD-ROM-related problem. With a Full Install your application can read most of the data from your hard disk.

Also run "dxdiag" and make sure all your 3D graphics and sound functions are enabled. You should have at least DirectX v 8.0a (not the version 8 on the Exile CD-ROM) installed. DirectX v 9 should be OK, too.

I have no space for a Full Install (only 2 partitions, and too small for that...).
I have installed DX 9.0b but no change.
:-(
However, I have found the speeches in the Web, at
