It's kinda awkward, that HE would run for Gov, but apparently it's true /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
I think he might win though, because some people might vote for him to see what happens.
But then again others might not vote for him because of this outragious idea of his.
All in all, this is one weird hing going on /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

The odd thing is people have labeled him a Republican moderate yet the core of his political beliefs (see below) are overwhelmingly outside the usual GOP mold and right in line with those of democrats, which in a liberal state like California may just end up working in his favor when it comes to winning votes in the recall election.
Gays
"I have no sexual standards in my head that say this is good or this is bad 'Homosexual' -- that only means to me that he enjoys sex with a man and I enjoy sex with a woman. It's all legitimate to me. When it comes to sex, I don't give a s-- what anyone's trip is."
Cloning
"At the moment, they're dealing with it by putting the religious spin on it. I understand that; there are some people who are religiously fanatic, that feel uncomfortable with it. But I think that's also a mistake."
Gun Control
"I don't run around every day with a gun in my hand. So I want kids to understand the difference: One is make-believe, like we do in movies. But in reality, I'm for gun control. I'm a peace-loving guy."
P.S. He is also known to be very supportive of abortion rights. However, as of yet there are no public statements from him detailing his exact position on the matter.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is gonna win for a number of reasons. He has a lot of money, I hear he can easily finance his campaign without fund-raisers. Putting aside the "too-heavy-to-understand-accent" sterotype, He speaks in a fairly clear tone and uses strongly-charged words and that'll make him the envy of many public speakers as well as draw voters. His hansom TV looks alone can win him the election, especially most of the women vote. If he is elected California's Governor, he'll be a nice motivation speaker for my home state and hopefully he'll surround himself with excellent beaurocrats who'll take care of the budget crisis.

"I AM.... THE GOVERNATOR".
anyways... why not? I just hope he is what he says he is (republican). Otherwise he wouldn't have my vote if he tricks me. (which I cant vote because of two reasons, but you get the point)

First and foremost, campaigning for a recall election that is going to take place in two months isn't going to cost nearly as much as the normal election process with primaries etc. Therefore, I don't think Arnold being wealthy and not having to raise funds is a big issue one way or another, especially when many of the other candidates also have very good financial bases.
Secondly, I don't think the people of California really care too much how handsome he may be. Yes, having good looks and a lot of charisma are nice, but when it comes down to it they are going to vote for whomever they think can deliver the best package, and if that happens to be Arnold so be it.
Lastly, keep in mind although Senator Diane Feinstein claimed she is not going to run as of right now, if worse comes to worse she has definitely not ruled it out, and being a political figure who Democrats as well as Republicans see as a clear favorite if she does choose to jump in the race, Arnold will surely find it difficult to defeat somebody as experienced and overwhelmingly popular with Californians.

Schwarzenegger is probably a shoe-in for the position... between his squeeky clean reputation and the family man image he has, he's right fit for this type of thing. And the fact that he is a hollywood superstar and near movie legend won't do anything but help his chances... The only man that could possibly get more votes is John Wayne!... God rest his soul.
Alot of people who normally don't care about the polls will wind up voting and following the election JUST because he is in the running.
Whether he's a good politician or not doesn't matter because just his running is a good thing for American politics in general. The publicity surrounding this is going to be haywire.
And the spotlight will be on him more than ever now, so let's hope he doesn't have a hidden history of ******s and coke... Not that that'd hurt his chances any in California. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Yeah, he is in the race too now. Maybe if he wins he will end up choosing former costar Todd Bridges as his Attorney General. After all, Mr. Bridges has a lot of experience when it comes to the law if you know what I mean.
