I feel a little embarrassed for posting this here, maybe because I feel I'm in search of answers, but I have no where to go. I'm writing this post in complete confidence that maybe (perhaps) it will get recognition by someone out there.
No better way to get it off your chest other than to just plain flat out come on out with it. I have created a game (well, more of a "brainstorm"). I have put in almost three months into the idea of it, and have just recently put it down on paper. In fact, I've put so much time into the thought and development of this game, that I've even gone as far to research the possibility of hiring my own programmers and do it myself. But after I found out how much it would actually gouge my pocketbook, I've thought it wouldn't be such a great idea.
So after a few good weeks of heavy debating, I thought the best thing to do would be to just copy write protect the storyline and game ideas, and start looking for help. I even went as far as to look into the possibility of trying to sell my idea to another developer, but I'm not too sure if that would be smart (even if it's copy written). This is where it put me in a hard place, I've pretty much ran out of ideas on how much I should really pursue my ideas.
I have talked it over and shared some of my ideas with my brother and a few close friends, and they are the ones who are kind of pushing me to pursue this further. The ideas I put down and wrote out, some are seen in games today, but a majority of them are not. Honestly, the more I thought about it, the more I got into it. So I put my pen and pad to work and brainstormed some of the most sweetest ideas thus far (and story). I even went as far to research a few of the newest upcoming games and I have yet to see any of my ideas make it. But it's got me tiresome because my financial status and my lack of knowledge on where to go has me turning in the other direction.
I've always been a big game buff since my hands first touched the old two buttoned controller of Nintendo. At that point, I've always known that this was going to be a hobby that will never die. And throughout the years of gaming, I've also felt that this area would take a serious interest and grow fast (and it did with the expansion of all the consoles on the market). Now at 25, I still see this trend growing, and growing fast. With games on Xbox Live, I see the potential in the industry only going in one direction, up. I personally feel that within the next few years, we will see a major leap in the online console community. I see that, and that's why I have decided to develope an in-depth strategy sim.
So that's all I have to say. I haven't said this anywhere else but here, I guess I'm looking for a way to get answers and suggestions. I appreciate you taking the time to read and listen to me.
