Enabling AA and/or AF

There was thread before (or was it from the web , hmm) saying how to edit a file to enable AA and/or AF. Does anyone know where this is? or simply what file i need to edit, I'll work out the rest. Sorry for being a muppet.

I'm guessing that he menas Antriscopic (sp?) Fildering, and Anti-Alaising.
