Evening gentlemen. I've been having quite a problem trying to get a LAN game going between two computers. Here is what I know...
Identical LAN protocols are installed, the computers do see each other, file and printer sharing is enabled.
Both networking settings in IL2 - Forgotten Battles are set to LAN
Both computers have game version 1.22
When going into Multiplayer - Create Game, and then the other Multiplayer - Join game, search for local servers, nothing shows up. The game times out. The search is unable to find the computer host. We have tried doing local search and IP. Both computers are not connected to the internet in any way when we try.
What can we do to fix this? How do we get this to work? We may try doing the same by connecting to the internet, but we would like to do it via Local Area Network if possible. Thank you, any contribution to help us is greatly appreciated.

Do you have any firewalls running on the machines?
If its XP check the network tab to see if its on.
I have just spent hours trying to fix my samba server as I couldn't connect, only to find out it was Zonealarm running on the client that was causing it.
One of those doh! moments.

Yes Steve_V, as mentioned in my original post, both network settings for both Forgotten battles programs on both computers are set to LAN.
Captain Madcow, both computers have no firewall software installed on them because we use dial-up connection and we cannot connect with firewall running. Also, we made sure to turn off any anti-virus software running as well. But still nothing.
I am thinking we should both disable all background programs running except Explorer and Systray, then try running game over network? Perhaps one of the misc. background programs all computers is running is interfering? What do you all think?

Are you using a hub, router, or direct connect?
If direct connect, are you using a crossover cable?
Way back in my mind I remember once having to add 21000 to the server name for others to see me. Only happened once. Its funny you can ping each other but not see the host.

We are using a router hooked up as a hub.
We also added .21000 to the end of server name.. still not seeing each other.

You are using TCP/IP aren't you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Have you tried in putting the Server/Host IP directly?
type 'ipconfig /all' in a cmd prompt without quotes.
