I have wondered how many explorers have collected some truly spectacular shots of any age. I have seen a few used as wallpaper, but never anything quite like this one. If you haven't been here, you really ought to make the effort.http://img24.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Olfar/Hio5a.jpg

How in the world did you get that shot ?????

Run a search on 'virtual skydiving' and you should find out how to get there.

FYI, Grizz, it never worked for me. Don't know if it's my 'puter or what. All I ever saw was clouds and couldn't adjust the angle for love nor money. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

That would be a great angle for the type of fly by they had when you linked in the other games.

Elkae, your technique may be different to mine, but... my skydiving views of Gahreesen became more down to earth when I used the down arrow (it sounds more logical than it is, given that we are in camera glitch mode at the time). BTW, lag would be a problem, as it causes lost frames during the skydive and interferes with the timing of screenshots.

This UO thread says it all:

For *spectacular*, I kind of like these three images, too:

Aerial Relto View (http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/gazola42/Uru_Selected_640x480/007Relto01.jpg)
Falling Through the Cavern (http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/gazola42/Uru_Selected_640x480/001Cavern01.jpg)

Gazola, that's the technique I was trying to use ... I could never get the white dot to appear so I was just 'pressing down in the dark'. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

This is one of my favorites (and it is NOT a hidden GZCM marker mission) - clicking on the image will take you to a higher resolution version:

Zardoz, dare I ask how you got that shot? That's amazing.

It's from the beta days when you could create your own marker game by setting markers wherever you wanted, not just in Ae'gura (although a game could not span Ages). To get that arc, I stood at the end of the walkway on top of the Garrison Well and just set markers every second or two until I exhausted the supply.

Ah, yes... The White Dot

Unfortunately, TWD seems to be a crucial component in this exercise. If the Ki's were working, I could loan you my White Dot. Failing this option, all I can do is describe how I got it to work on my system but it sounds like you already know all this stuff. I don't see this info as a spoiler but:

On the roof of the first rotating building, stand between the two antennas from the fallen tower. Look ahead. See the active elevator across from you? Well walk around the edge of the roof (the outer color of the stone) as close to the edge as you can. As you pass the active elevator, the screen will go black. At this point, hold down the DOWN and RIGHT arrow keys - a speck of light will float up the screen. When it stops floating and starts to move back to the bottom of the screen, hold down DOWN. In a few seconds, you will be able to see again, and there will be a camera view of the age. Depending on how you move when the screen is black, you can get other views too.
NOTE: You can only do this in 3rd person. Also while the screen is black, do NOT switch to 1st person

This was my starting point (thanks, Gehn123), though I later realised there were some *sort-of-unpredictable* shortcuts to triggering the black screen.

I'm sorry Elkae. If you have been using direction arrow keys, you might try mousing it. If and when you do get the little white dot, you should notice that you're able to turn while the screen is dark. I have shots from nearly all four points of the compass. It takes a little practice to know how long to hold a turn though.

I've never had to use my mouse or arrow keys when "skydiving". A few seconds after my screen goes black, the white dot just floats up on its own. Then I simply wait (not touching any keys or my mouse), and a few more seconds later, after the white dot has gotten a little bigger, the screen changes and I see Gahreesen from high above, looking straight down. As I "float" down, the screen slowly turns.

Go here (http://images.snapfish.com/339%3A6%3C6723232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D664%3D555 %3DXROQDF%3E2323493%3B23842ot1lsi) next to the down elevator (move your avatar around slightly if it doesn't happen right away).

Maybe it works differently for other people, but for anyone having problems, I thought I'd post what has worked for me. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My basic technique for getting the white dot: don't do anything once the screen goes black.

Well, I don't know. I do appreciate the help here, but I don't see any tips I haven't already tried. Like I said, I get in position, the screen goes black sans TWD, and the camera points skyward no matter what I do keypad or mouse. Sheeesh, I think I spent half a day trying to get TWD and finally gave up. Guess I could go try again while waiting for the xpak. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

always just works for me. Turn to the righto ut of the elevator, walk between the broken pillar and the outside rail, walk around the edge towardes the other elevator, and wammo it happens. Every time.

I usually just stop touching the keys because I've continued moving while that has happened and managed to walk off the end of the pier and get linked out, heeeh!

Great pic, Zard0z

I now understand more about those threatening animal noises coming from the Gahreesen Forest.

The animals are still in shock & awe from the day long ago when they saw you sliding slowly past them, standing proudly in your red undies, hairy-chested with it, taunting (teasing?) them with strange repeated gestures.

Before, I was scared of them, but now I realise they just need therapy to help them move on

Edit: OH NO!... you are not Zard0z!!!

I owe you the deepest apology, Zardoz. I promise never to make that mistake again... another brilliant theory bites the dust.

LOL, no problem - it was a great theory while it lasted!
