*Help* (AVI Maker broken)

Hi all,

To keep it short, when I load up a .trk in the editor and then select Make Avi from the pull down menu, as soon as I click, I hear a Windows error sound and the game freezes. Alt+Tabing out of the game, I see en error message on the desktop. It's something about a detected running debugger that needs to be turned off.

Anybody know what's up and how to fix it?

I'm not sure about that but I will tell you that if you set the date of the track any other day than day 1 the track won't record.

Hi EB, long time no see (Icarus in the O Club).

This used to happen to me in v1.0, but not since the patch. If the trk you're trying to use was made with v1.0 that *might* cause problems, but I doubt you'll be using a trk that old.

So, er... I've no idea :-)

Long time no talk indeed. Do you fly online? I haven't done a single multiplayer session yet.

Anyway, going back to the topic, as you guessed, its a 1.01 .trk. Thanks anyway though.

RuGGBuTT, nope, same day.

The 'avi configuration' window never pops up. Just the error as soon as I click 'make avi.'

Any other helpers?

I think I'll re-post this in the general forum for greater exposure.

I haven't flown my Flanker in public since F1.5. Maybe one day I'll venture onto Hyperlobby, but I seem to spend more time in a movie editor than a cockpit, so my poor H2H skills have got worse, not better... and they were pretty poor to begin with! :-)

The only thing I can suggest is an *arrgh* fresh install of LOMAC.

I'll leave that as the last resort, if no other suggestions come.

Another thing I thought and heard was that it might be a codec issue. But how does that work? Does lomac renderer use/require a particular codec? If so, how do I verify which one I have or which one is set for the lomac renderer on my PC, and how do I alter it, if I need to in the first place?

Try rendering a clip uncompressed, 30 seconds equal about 2 gigs. If it will render then you have an issue w/the codec you've chosen.

I see. Try to "repair" the game using the LOMAC CD. If not all I can recommend is a fresh install.

i had this issue

you have to get rid of the lame codec
at least i did anyhow

i hear its a good mp3 codec but it screws alot of my stuff up such as video capture also

and im not even using an mp3

When you choose record an AVI in the Mission Editor you have a panel on the right. there is a window there and if I'm not mistaken it defaults to "Uncompressed" for the codec choices. Pull down that window and choose your codec. If compressing I recommend Huffy 2.1.1. TDBone turned me on to it and it rocks. Do a Google search to find it.
